Primary Purpose

This position supports "Essex, a Veridix AI company". Essex is a biomedical informatics and health information technology-focused consultancy founded in 2009 and headquartered in Rockville, MD. The Essex team comprises experts with extensive experience in strategically developing and managing complex health and biomedical information programs for clients in the Federal Government, research academia, and private sectors.

The ' Director, Capture Management ' is responsible for developing key biomedical informatics consulting sales opportunities from qualification through proposal delivery. They are responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with prospective customers within the NIH ecosystem; as well as managing internal relationships with solutions and delivery teams.


Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of a limited number of key business development opportunities.
  • Develop and execute strategic capture plans for assigned qualified NIH opportunities, based on a deep understanding of biomedical informatics consulting and NIH customer requirements, to secure new and/or re-compete contracts.
  • Strategies shall include, but not be limited to, win strategies / themes, technical and management solutions, competitive assessments, recommendations on teaming, pricing, communications plans, action plans.
  • Develop and deliver Capture Briefings to confirm/justify ongoing effort, and drive Capture activity to raise the company's probability of win.
  • Manage effective execution of capture pursuits, track performance to cost and schedule, and communicate status to leadership.
  • Develop data calls, respond to data calls and organize capture related responses.* Having the vision to understand client needs/wants and desires and be able to form this vision into a coherent winning response.
  • Attending customer calls, both virtually and in-person when possible.
  • In collaboration with Essex Services Delivery team, develop tailored compelling and integrated narratives which clearly communicate the Essex value proposition for customers for each opportunity.
  • Work with the Essex Proposal Manager to document the narrative in an RFP/RFQ response
  • Provide input to the sales team in building out and organizing the pipeline in alignment with capture activities.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in support of the Federal contracting industry is required.
  • Health Information Technology experience is required.
  • Degree in a related STEM field (e.g., Computer Science, Bioinformatics, etc.) is preferred.
  • Deep understanding of Institutes of the NIH; including strategic imperatives, standards and mission priorities is required.
  • Experience with the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) is strongly preferred.
  • Successful track record supporting business development and sales into Institutes of the NIH, demonstrating an ability to scale a consulting or professional services business is required.
  • Familiarity with domains of key interest to Essex within NIH, including management consulting, clinical research informatics, precision medicine, public cloud technology, agile development of biomedical software, bioinformatics, etc is required.
  • Extensive contacts and familiarity with leadership within NIH are required.
  • Extensive contacts with industry partners that have incumbent work and focus in NIH is strongly preferred.
  • Work for this position must be performed in the United States (required). Candidates local to Rockville, MD are preferred.
  • Applicants selected for this position may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for Public Trust positions. Visa sponsorship is not available.
