The Legal Aid Society's Communications Department as an immediate opening for a Content Production Intern.

The Communication Department leads Legal Aid's growing media relations, marketing, branding, and design needs on earned, owned, and paid media channels. They tell the stories of our clients and supporters, develops educational and advocacy campaigns, and highlights our legal and advocacy victories.

Duration of internship: June 3 - August 16

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Executing a variety of photography and short-form video assignments (from pre to post), in addition to assisting as part of a production team as the situation requires - including on-site shoots at locations through New York city's five boroughs
  • Collaborate closely with Communications department stakeholders to facilitate the creation of video and photo content that artistically and accurately captures the values of our organization through a variety of formats
  • Capture and assemble video and photo content for various external promotional media channels, as well as internal communications needs as the assignment dictates
  • Edit video and audio projects, including the final export of project deliverables, capturing/importing media, organizing raw media, editing footage and sound files, creating and inserting static and motion graphics, titling, adding music/voice-over/sfx, media management, and archiving project media
  • Video and photo equipment organization and management
  • Other duties as assigned

Manhattan - Legal Aid Society Headquarters
  • Enrollment in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program (preferably in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Media Studies, Marketing, Design, or a related field of study)
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Acts with high degree of compassion, integrity, and open-mindedness
  • Basic understanding of user experience, storytelling, and brand/voice principles
  • Creative thinker with ability to ideate and pitch compelling, intentional content
  • Proven time-management and organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 and familiar with content and collaboration tools
  • Possesses a growth mindset and openness to learning new skills and approaches
  • Comfortable with navigating ambiguity and complexity
  • Proficiency in visual/graphic design, photography, and/or videography a plus
