Expected salary range of $106,200 to $118,000, varies based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401(k).

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Performance Improvement Specialist will be responsible for assessing, developing, and driving Outage Planning & Services department, site, and corporate human performance initiatives. Additional responsibilities include management and oversight of OP&S Corrective Action Program (CAP) and action tracking system. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, support and performing Condition Reports (CR) investigations, CR quality reviews, application of trend codes, trending program results, analysis of CR data, development of reports to Outage Planning & Services management team, participating in corporate Management Review Committee meetings.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Department East/West Human Performance Coordinator: Driving OP&S department, site, and corporate human performance initiatives. Assessment: Intervene with ongoing OP&S activities to identify and resolve human performance issues to improve personnel and department performance. Evaluate effectiveness of quarterly crew MRMs to develop and implement plans for performance improvement. Perform infield human performance observations during outage and non-outage work activities. Participates in the review of HU related root cause, ACE, QHPI, and CCA investigations. Provides a rollup of observation data to identify organizational issues, trends and coaching to the line on appropriate corrective actions. Reviews the department Human Performance Improvement Plans (HPIPs) and provides feedback to the owners. Coordinate the development of HU efforts during site refuel and maintenance outages. Data Analysis: Performs review of station assessment results to determine trends and areas where performance improvement interventions can be used for improvement (e.g., events, scorecards, OE MRMs, INPO assist visits, NSRBs, NRC reports). Assess FMS observation/IR data to identify HU related trends. Training/Reinforcement: Assists in developing and distributing OP&S HU related communications. Mentor management and employees on human error reduction techniques. Advises individual crews/departments on the scope and relevance of HU initiatives as part of the business and excellence planning process. Advises individuals and departments of the application of technical human performance. Provides the function of the SFAM for Human Performance. Fundamental Management System: Responsible for oversight of FMS observation reporting for the OP&S organization, which includes develop and execute reports, analyze events and data by reviewing human performance events and trends, and determine/develop action plans for performance improvement and MRMs.
  • Department East/West CAPCO: Responsible for the daily oversight of the CR process for Outage Planning & Services Responsible for daily prescreening, assignment of CR's, and representing the department corporate Management Review Committee Meetings. Support line organizations in the execution of CR utilization or investigations by mentoring, reviewing, and/or training personnel involved. In addition, responsible for leading or performing investigations, including human performance analysis products, when required. Ensure quality corrective actions are developed and executed. Develop and maintain CR database, which supports trending and performance analysis, including supervisor observation programs.
  • Performs actions associated with being OP&S Knowledge Management Subject Matter Expert. Provide direction and consultation on identification of individuals that are experts in their field with valuable tacit knowledge. Supports knowledge capture activities. Provide status updates on the stations knowledge management efforts.
  • Participates in NRC, INPO and management audits/assessments and provide response to audit findings. Provides HU related benchmarking results to the site.
  • Supports special projects and/or other OP&S group functions, including primary back-up for East/West OP&S Training Specialist duties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree with 6 years professional experience OR
  • Associate's degree with 8 years experience OR
  • H.S. Diploma, 8 years experience and 2 years FLS experience OR
  • Former SRO with 8+ years experience.
  • Candidate should have interest and experience in human performance and related corrective action processes.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Excellent problem solving, decision-making and planning skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous SRO license
  • 4-year technical degree.
  • Previous Corrective Action / Root Cause Analysis Training
