Job Description
Knox College invites applications for the part-time, 12-month position of Campus Safety Officer. This Campus Safety Officer will work on an as-needed basis up to 24 hours per week, which may include any shift, including nights, weekends and/or holidays. This position reports to the Director of Campus Safety.
Essential Duties:
- Patrol campus in a vehicle and on foot for the protection of students, employees, visitors and their property
- Respond to emergency situations and routine requests for service
- Write incident reports
- Enforce Knox College rules and regulations
- Secure and provide authorized access to campus buildings
- Coordinate with emergency services when required
- Report any safety/security situations
Education and Experience:
Required Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree (Criminal Justice preferred) or two or more years of full-time security, law enforcement or related experience
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to patrol on foot in all types of weather
- Strong, professional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to make sound decisions, sometimes with limited information, in fluid situations
