EXEMPT JOB TITLE: Insurance Sales Agent

REPORTS TO: Chief Operating Officer and Executive Committee

LOCATION: Gage and Saline County territory. Flexibility on primary office location. Option to primarily office out of our Beatrice or Wilber locations, and option to partially work out of our Lincoln – Old Cheney location.

POSITION SUMMARY: Provide service to customers (prospective, new, existing or walk-in) by generating quotes, processing new policies and servicing existing policies. Grow the agency’s portfolio by pursuing new business through marketing insurance products to prospective customers and educating existing customers on additional products to meet their needs. Complete and/or work with agency staff to complete general operational tasks, such as entering data, making customer requested changes, submitting payments to various companies, maintaining files, and monitoring the status of existing insurance customer activities within the agency.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Job Specific

  • Assist customers with questions, concerns, and policy changes. Correspond with external agencies, as necessary, to accommodate customer requests. Ensure customer receives a response in a timely manner.
  • Generate quotes for prospective or existing customers. Review and deliver new policies.
  • Pursue new business to grow the agency’s portfolio by marketing to prospective customers and suggesting additional products to meet the needs of existing customers.
  • Monitor customer’s account receivables.
  • Accept and track customer claims; file with the appropriate companies. Follow-up with customer.
  • Access and issue certificates of commercial insurance and insurance cards per customer requests.
  • Collect any necessary data and generate requisite reports.
  • Maintain a current working knowledge of the insurance industry through continuing education.
  • Maintain accurate customer records by entering appropriate data into the customer management system; completing necessary paperwork/applications; writing letters; filing current policies, renewals, and changes; reviewing new and renewal policies.
  • Market to customers by sending marketing tools and proposals, etc.
  • Mentor new agency employees on agency procedure as necessary.
  • All other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree in business administration or related field and/or relevant insurance industry experience required.
  • LICENSE, CERTIFICATIONS, ETC.: Current Nebraska Property and Casualty (P&C) insurance license required (or ability to obtain within a specified period of time.). Valid motor vehicle driver’s license or provisional operator’s permit.

  • Working knowledge of personal computer (Microsoft Office products).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Normal daily physical activities include walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling.
  • Daily lifting up to 10-30 pounds (i.e. storage files, office supplies and equipment, etc.)

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Typically, indoors, environmentally controlled. This position may require travel by car to visit other company locations and to make on-site customer visits. May require work on evenings and weekends to meet with customers.
