In this role you will:
  • Mixed Methods Research Strategy Development: Develop and implement a comprehensive research strategy, integrating both quantitative and qualitative methods to uncover consumer insights. This includes identifying company-wide research topics and planning studies to deliver significant impact on SMG customer and the business.
  • Research Implementation and Execution: Oversee & directly lead the execution of mixed-methods research projects end-to-end, ensuring alignment with business goals and actionable outcomes. This includes planning, design, analysis, communication, and application of generative, formative, and post-launch evaluative research
  • Strategic Behavioral Evaluation: Lead the analysis of behavioral contexts and consumer motivations to understand market trends.
  • Prioritization and Communication of Insights Projects: Effectively communicate with the organization to prioritize insights projects, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and optimal resource allocation. This includes driving leadership buy in and support by regularly meetings, presenting findings, connecting research insights to business outcomes and quantifying business value at the executive level
  • Collaboration with Market Intelligence: Work closely with the Market Intelligence team, expanding upon data-driven insights for strategic application.
  • Hypothesis Generation and Testing: Generate and validate hypotheses, leveraging insights from various research methodologies. This includes working closely with the experimentation and optimization part of the organization to help generate business testing plans based on insights.
  • Team Leadership and Culture Development: Lead and mentor cross-functional teams, fostering a collaborative culture within the insights & analytics department and promoting knowledge sharing and continuous learning across Scotts Miracle Gro.
What you'll need to be successful:
  • Bachelor's Degree, Bachelor's degree in Consumer Insights, Market Research, Behavioral Science, or related field. Preferred: Master's degree in a related field,,
  • 6 - 7+ Years of experience preferred
  • Consumer Insights Expertise: 6+ years in applied research techniques - consumer insights and ideally some experimentation/testing. This includes a combination of relevant education, hands-on experience, and training.
  • Quantitative research experience: Expertise in quantitative research methods(surveys), experiment design, behavioral analysis, and statistics
  • Leadership in Analytics or Consumer Insights: At least 2 - 3 years of experience in leading analytics or consumer insights teams, demonstrating effective leadership in balancing team and individual responsibilities, and building consensus. This includes leadership in advancing the practice of research through high quality execution, identifying and creating relevant org-wide programs to grow the capability of the team
  • Customer-centric mindset & leadership: Demonstrated ability to advocate for an organization's customers and champion the effective integration of insights into the company. This includes a command of a broad set of qualitative and quantitative research and user-centered methods.
  • Strategic Planning and Execution: Demonstrated leadership in advancing the practice of research through high quality execution, identifying and creating relevant org-wide programs to grow the capability of the team. This includes experience defining research roadmaps, prioritizing multiple efforts and leading highly complex multi-method research inquiries
  • Advanced Analytics and Data Management: Experience with data management and analytics, including familiarity with modern tools, techniques, governance, centers of excellence, and advanced analytics method
  • Communication skills: Excellent communication skills, with strong ability to synthesize and communicate ideas visually, verbally, and in writing, influencing regularly at the executive level
  • Team Building and Leadership: Track record of proactively engaging and leading cross-functional teams through company-wide research initiatives, and delivering on measurable business outcomes
The starting budgeted pay range for this role will generally fall between $118,400.00 - $139,300.00 per year. Scotts will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location.
