Description

Proof of the Pudding provides food and beverage services using the freshest ingredients available. Offering fine-quality concessions and catering for meetings, exhibit hall booths, conventions, and special events. Gas South Convention Center includes a 9,800 sq. ft. state-of-the-art space.

We are seeking an energetic, well-organized, and seasoned Assistant Banquet Manager to provide our customers with a first-class banquet experience. The Assistant Banquet Manager will work closely with the Sales and Culinary team to obtain event information, expectations, and details to effectively run a Front of House team to achieve event success.

Gas South Districts proximity to the Gwinnett area makes it a convenient and demanding location for executive conferences, weddings, and high-profile events. As one of Georgia's busiest convention centers, every day brings new opportunities to create, design, and execute memorable events for a variety of guests.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Assist in the supervision of all events and banquets
  • Ensure all areas are client ready considering their cleanliness, organization, and appearance.
  • Work with the Banquet Manager to hire and train a well-qualified staff.
  • Assist with the day-to-day duties and monitoring of staff and banquet operations.
  • Direct and motivate banquet team and ensure a good environment of teamwork and employee satisfaction.
  • Must be able to manage employees and the floor while maintaining Proof of the Pudding standards and hold all staff accountable.
  • Assist with vendor contracts, ordering levels, inventory and process billing for all departmental supplies, linen, beverage, and small wares
  • Implement controls for labor and operating expenses as directed.
  • Position may require irregular work schedules at various times and the performance of work assignments that may not be directly related to these job specifications
  • Help oversee equipment distribution, inventory tracking, organization and clean up of events.
  • Be a managerial presence at a variety of events.

Performs other related duties as needed.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 1+ years of experience in related position, knowledge of banquets and Front of House duties
  • Must live near Duluth, GA 30097
  • Basic computer knowledge, including Windows and Microsoft Office, & BEO Software
  • Knowledge of or readiness to learn applicable laws and regulations, which impact food and beverage operations and service.

Specialized Skills:
  • Excellent listening and communication skills.
  • Renowned time management and organization skills.
  • Strong Customer Service skills with the desire to go above and beyond a client's needs.
  • The ability to work alone and as a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to learn and adapt quickly.
  • Willing to drive a CMV is a plus.

Work Environment

This position will break down into mainly event attendance and preparation with some light office work. Office work includes sitting at a desk, communicating via email, phone, in person, and attending meetings. Event attendance consists of navigating through the indoor event space, leading a team, event preparation and set up, attending walk throughs, client meetings, and event execution including breakdown. This position will office out of and mainly stay within the Gas South District Convention Center, but may travel to other venues within the Gas South Region where events may include outdoor settings.

Physical Demands:
  • Prolonged periods of standing, moving through an event space, and traveling from venue to venue.
  • Bending, lifting, scooping, and carrying miscellaneous equipment and food items.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, such as but not limited to, lifting approx. 40 lbs.
