QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Has a high school diploma or G.E.D. certificate
  2. Holds a valid Commercial Driver's License Class B, Endorsements P and S that is valid for interstate driving and a Kentucky School Bus Driver Certificate or must obtain a valid Commercial Driver's License Class B, Endorsements P and S that is valid for interstate driving and a KY School Bus Driver Certificate within ninety (90) days of employment
  3. Has the ability to read and follow written directions
  4. Has two years of secretarial and clerical experience preferred
  5. Has the ability to type at an appropriate skill level
  6. Has skills in filing, and telephone and computer operation
  7. Has the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  8. Has experience handling confidential information
  9. Has demonstrated ability to work effectively with staff and community

REPORTS TO: Director of Transportation

JOB GOAL: To assist the Transportation Department with various tasks and activities required to provide an efficient transportation services system

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Be familiar with and follow accordingly written statutes, policies, procedures and directions from supervisor in response to routine requests and emergency situations
  2. Communicate with parents, students, staff and community; handling information appropriately and professionally while maintaining confidentiality
  3. Operate two-way radio base stations and paging systems as required.
  4. Coordinate with school administration and others responsible for planning all field trips
  5. Assist in the implementation of all Board Policies as they relate to transportation
  6. Create work orders in response to bus driver's pre-trip forms and communicate with Fleet Service Department in response to bus breakdowns
  7. Maintain absentee log and schedule itinerants accordingly
  8. Keep a daily log of activities and relay pertinent information to the appropriate supervisors in a timely manner
  9. Assist in preparing bus routes, rosters and schedules when requested by the Director of Transportation
  10. Drive a school bus in emergency situations as requested by the Director of Transportation
  11. Perform other duties consistent with the position assigned as may be requested by the supervisor
