The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) seeks a Sales Manager, Institutional Licensing to help build and sustain institutional licensing revenues for the Association’s portfolio of five subscription-based peer-reviewed journals—including Science magazine—supporting the mission of AAAS to advance science, engineering, and innovation throughout the world for the benefit of all. You will be responsible for developing a collaborative and consulting sales relationship with assigned customer accounts and clearly communicating AAAS’s sales proposition in the market. Compensation for this position includes a base salary and commission on sales. The position is based in AAAS’ Cambridge, UK office. What You’ll Do Manages assigned sales territory, local institutional sales agents, if any, and customer accounts In support of the department’s overall licensing objectives and with the guidance of the Associate Director, develops and executes an annual strategic sales plan for assigned territory Develops new business opportunities according to pre-determined goals Nurtures leads; identifies and pursues upselling and bundling opportunities Provides and follows up on quotes based on pricing, policies, and procedures, striving to close sales in a timely fashion Tracks leads on pipeline reports: direct and via local sales representatives Incorporates market research data into business development plans and sales activities Supports local sales representatives and evaluates agent performance Works with AAAS’ marketing team on campaign development and execution Follows up with customers after the sales process to gain feedback, report usage, and support customer satisfaction efforts Works collaboratively with Institutional Licensing Operations staff on customer renewals requiring negotiations and provides sales support for exceptions and upsell opportunities Responsible for meeting annual sales targets Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience Three to five years’ experience in scholarly publications and institutional sales Proven track record of reaching or exceeding goals Ability to manage multiple customers and accounts Excellent negotiation skills Skilled writer and articulate communicator Strong presentation skills Effective time manager and highly organized Ability to be a self-starter and work independently, goal-oriented Strong knowledge of MS Office and CRM software Application Process Submit a resume and cover letter outlining qualifications and interest in the position by December 4, 2023 .
