About this job

Reporting to the Branch Manager, the Operations Manager directs all activities of the assigned branch maximizing potential of branch through the efficient and professional management of staff, facilities, and equipment.

Accountable for overall branch sales and operations including revenue, profitability, management of staff, facilities and fleet (sales, rental and product support). Consistent review and oversight, delegates to direct reports, makes strategic decisions affecting Admar brand, encourages employee engagement using Admar preferred behaviors, assists in formulating budgets, leads employee development and training, maximize utilization and rate optimization, oversee maintenance and safety practices.

Sales Management:
  • Directs all sales and customer related activity
  • Holds weekly sales meetings to review progress of outside sales reps
  • Rides with sales reps periodically to offer support, coaching, development
  • Monitors monthly sales goals for reps
  • Familiar with top target jobsites, projects, Reed Data
  • Develops strong relationships with top customers
  • Participates in industry associations and community activities

Operational Management:
  • Ensures service department group, inside sales, and dispatch/logistics all function as a team maximizing efficiency and customer experience
  • Regular review of manager suite of reports for compliance, accuracy and productivity.
  • Continually monitors inside sales and counter activity, contract pricing and accuracy.
  • Regularly meets with Rental Manager and Service Manager to define daily/weekly plan.
  • Prior experience in a supervisory role; preferably in the construction, equipment, or repair shop industries.
  • Extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with all levels of an organization.
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced, high pressure environment with a high level of complexity.
  • Results and process oriented.
  • Excellent understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Exceptional customer service orientation which demonstrates flexibility to meet customer needs.

Financial Management:
  • Monitors revenue activity, expense and overheads in relation to budget, makes adjustments to meet goals and impact branch profitability.
  • Awareness of credit procedures and adherence to customer aging policy.
  • Creates plan to manage and return or transfer slow moving parts, merchandise and small equipment. Formulate plan with corporate fleet manager and GM to sell under-utilized or aging assets.
  • Instrumental in determining branch budgets and salesmen goals and forecasts for fiscal year.

Skills:
  • Ability to read, write and understand policies, procedures, contracts and detailed correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide and work with common fractions and decimals to figure items such as discounts.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with and respond to inquiries from customers and other employees.
  • Excellent listening skills and strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of administrative procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures. Proficiency in MS Office applications including Excel, Outlook and Word.
  • Experience with AS400 preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver's license. DOT medical card helpful.

Physical:
  • Must be able to work in service environment which includes: routine walking, talking, sitting, standing, stooping, bending, reaching, seeing, carrying and lifting up to 50 lbs.

Human Resources:
  • Authorizes all new hires, personal action plans, pay increases and promotions working closely with H/R.
  • Ensures all employees are clear on expectations and job duties and responsibilities.
  • Identify and coordinate training opportunities at all levels within the branch to encourage employee growth and company commitment to excellence.
  • Conduct annual employee performance evaluations.
  • Ensures a safe working environment by conducting regular safety meetings, audits and compliance checks including DOT and ANCI.


Requirements

General Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years experience in the construction equipment industry
  • People-oriented and sales driven
  • Skills managing team of employees, customers, territory sales, budget and cost control

Desired Qualifications:
  • Solid branch operations background with strong retail sales, rental, and service and parts management experience.
  • Proven track record managing large rental fleets in excess of $10MM.
  • Able to demonstrate product knowledge in allied construction equipment lines including aerial, dirt, and general line.

$65,000 - $75,000 per year
