Branch colleges respondspecifically to the unique needs and multicultural backgrounds of theirrespective communities by offering community education programs, careereducation including certificate and associate degree programs, and transferprograms that prepare students for upper division entry into colleges anduniversities.

UNM-Gallup is seeking a Senior Operations Manager /Directorof Workforce Development to grow, manage, and plan for workforce initiativesin collaboration with the UNM-Gallup Chancellor, Academic Affairs, CommunityEducation and the local business community. This is a front-facing position that will spend a substantialpercentage of time building and enhancing relationships between UNM-Gallupand the greater Gallup community.

The Senior Operations Manager/Director of WorkforceDevelopment will be responsible for:

1.Communityengagement to assess and address the workforce needs of the greater Gallupcommunity/region.
2.Theplanning, development, and management of all aspects of workforce programmingand initiatives.
3. Supervisionof Community Education staff.
4. Creationof both credit bearing and non-credit bearing workforce-related courseofferings, via established university processes,to meet the needs of thegreater Gallup community.
5. Workingwith the administration on strategic planning initiatives specific toworkforce development.
6. Coordinatingwith Academic Divisions and Student Affairs in job placement/career servicesprogramming.
7. Collaboratingproductively with university employees and stakeholders.
8. Securingand managing relevant local, state and federal grants that enhance workforcedevelopment initiatives at UNM-Gallup.
9. Servingas the chair of an advisory board for workforce development.
10. Maintainingall relevant trainings, certifications, licenses, etc., for the candidate andstaff, required for effective and responsible functioning of the workforcedevelopment area.
11. Recruiting,orient, scheduling and supervising any additional approved staff positions.
12. Otherduties as assigned by the UNM-Gallup Chancellor.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree;at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in directly related field such as; Business Administration, Public Administration, Social Work, Counseling, Education.
  • At least 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience working with traditionally underrepresented and diverse populations.
