Role Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated History Teacher to join our Middle School team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in history and education, with a proven ability to inspire and motivate students. This individual will be responsible for designing and implementing curriculum that covers various historical periods and cultures, with an emphasis on critical thinking and analysis.

Teacher Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree (Masters preferred)
• Two years of urban teaching experience preferred
• Commitment to meet challenges with optimism and a solutions-oriented mindset
• Willingness to engage in frequent dialogue and to be self-reflective with regard to teaching practices
• Commitment to analyzing student data to push student achievement forward
• Successful classroom manager who firmly believes that a structured environment and high behavioral expectations for all students lead to student achievement

Responsibilities:

• Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and informative history lessons to students in grades 6-8.
• Develop and implement a curriculum that covers world history, U.S. history, and other relevant historical topics, aligning with state and school standards.
• Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports diverse learning styles and fosters a love of history.
• Use a variety of instructional strategies, including technology, to enhance student learning and engagement.
• Assess and evaluate students’ progress, providing constructive feedback and adapting teaching methods to meet individual student needs.
• Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and the school community to support student learning and school initiatives.
• Participate in professional development opportunities and stay current with best practices in history education and pedagogy.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in History, Education, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
• Valid California Teaching Credential or eligibility to obtain one.
• Previous teaching experience, especially at the middle school level, is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of historical events, cultures, and teaching methodologies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to engage and inspire students from diverse backgrounds.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous learning.
