Job Summary 

Serving as a key business partner to members of the leadership team, the Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) will creatively extract, link, and utilize data to solve business problems and provide unique insights. As part of a collaborative, nimble, team environment, the BIE will take a hands-on approach to developing and deploying data within several areas of the enterprise.  

The Business Intelligence Engineer will source, design, and build foundational data sets to power analytics data modeling, reports, and data warehouses. That knowledge will be used to provide information that can be monitored, measured, and will provide insight, and assist the organization in achieving its mission. 

Responsibilities 

  • Understand business objectives, define performance metrics, and drive data-driven strategies to achieve them. 
  • Work cross-functionally to support multiple key stakeholders and provide insights. 
  • Evaluate data warehouse design and components, relational database management systems, and database design solutions. 
  • Perform complex data analysis, identify the root cause of system and process issues, and develop solutions. 
  • Assess the end-to-end process and identify opportunities for enhancement; develop dashboards and report insights. 
  • Develop project management frameworks and development processes, monitoring the entire data framework, identifying, reporting requirements, and resolving data challenges. 
  • Design informational deliverables by analyzing requirements, constructing workflow diagrams, understanding system capabilities, and writing specifications to meet organizational objectives. 
  • Develop and maintain reports used by staff for various business needs by collaborating with Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, Purchasing, Marketing and Sales. 
  • Lead testing of new releases of application systems prior to use in a production environment.  
  • Support warehouse database integration between ERP and third-party software. 
  • Create documentation, procedure guidelines, analyze and troubleshoot user applications. 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field 
  • In-depth knowledge of SQL and NoSQL tools used in data modelling and data mining processes 
  • Experience in cloud data warehousing technologies and understanding of data extraction techniques 
  • Experience with ERP, MRP and Accounting Systems data acquisition (NetSuite preferred)  
  • Ability to design and develop reports, and advanced analytical solutions 
  • Extensive experience in analytics tools (Power BI, Tableau, Qlik) 
  • Curiosity, willingness to experiment and a demonstrated track record of problem solving 
  • Excellent critical-thinking skills with the ability to research and analyze data 
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
