$150.00 SIGN ON BONUS! Eagle Star Housing, an affiliate of the DePaul Group, is now hiring a Residential Living Specialist! Located only 10 minutes from Batavia, the Residential Living Specialist at our East Pembroke location will be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of the Transitional Housing Program in accordance with Eagle Star Housing policies and procedures. Provides direct care services to the homeless population. Candidate must have flexibility in shift availability. Position is 16-32 hours/week.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for assisting the House Manager with resident admissions, admission material and resident discharges.
  • Leading by example and practicing good judgement and boundaries.
  • Assists with meal preparation and menu planning.
  • Respects and maintains resident confidentiality and demonstrates a positive and caring attitude toward all residents and staff. *
  • Assists the House Manager with coordination of resident appointments and transport.
  • Performs the daily operations of the TH program including the processing of intakes and referrals for admission into the house as identified in shift responsibilities list. *
  • Responsible for making sure the environment is safe and residents are adhering to house rules. *
  • Practices and promotes positive peer and resident relations. *
  • Communicates with other care providers and referral sources to increase the understanding of residents problems and assets. *
  • Participates in and promotes quality improvement and maintains clear communications with the Housing Manager regarding house needs and incidents. *
  • Maintains a continuous physical presence within the house during working hours and responds to requests for assistance. When out of the office the phone must be taken when not in the office. *
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement in all aspects of the house. *
  • Assists with implementation of policies and programs. *
  • Functions as member of an interdependent team member and effectively communicates with residents and visitors to resolve inquiries and responds in a timely manner to inform the Housing Manager of operational issues within area of responsibility. *
  • Identifies and promptly addresses unsafe practices and other safety issues in the house. Report incidents and vital information to the Housing Manager*
  • Participates in all fire safety, infection control and other mandatory training.*
  • Accepts responsibility for personal professional development and demonstrates desire for personal growth. *

  • 1 year of human service experience preferred, not required. Will Train

  • Valid New York State driver's license that meets qualifications set by agency's clean driver record policy is required.
Work Environment

Eagle Star Housing's Transitional Housing Programs support Veterans on their journey to find permanent housing within three to six months.To ensure that Veterans are provided with a safe place to live while they search for permanent housing, staff work to address any barriers that may impact a successful journey, including physical and mental health issues and substance use disorders. The Pembroke Transitional Housing program is a 16-bed shelter responsible for vulnerable homeless populations located in East Pembroke, NY. It is a 24/7 program with required staffing on all shifts.

  • Saturday 11pm-7am
