Design Engineer - Site Civil

Jacobi, Toombs & Lanz Engineers, () a multi-faceted and rapidly growing civil engineering firm is seeking a full-time Design Engineer - Site Civil for our office in New Albany, IN or Louisville, KY. JTL has had a well-respected presence in Greater Louisville/ Southern Indiana for nearly 60 years. We are owned by Prime AE Group Inc. (), an architectural and engineering company with 20 offices and over 450 employees in the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast and Northeast US regions.

Position Overview:

The primary focus of this role will be to perform site planning and engineering design for both private and public development, to include site development, roadway and parking design, grading design, stormwater management system design, erosion and sediment control design, site due diligence studies, and construction detailing and specifications.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Perform engineering activities related to site planning and development design.
• Perform site & utility design using Civil 3D and / or Carlson Civil-Suite on an AutoCAD platform.
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic design calculations, reports and spreadsheets.
• Assist with the preparation of inventory assessments, analyses and reports.
• Work with the design team in all aspects of a given project to develop detailed design documents for construction plans related to Site Development.
• Assist with the development of professional services proposals.
• Be involved in all project aspects including design/study development and site/field visits during design and construction.
• Develop plans and contract documents.
• Prepare reports, studies, estimates, and specifications as required by assignments.
• Research local, state, and federal requirements.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering; Masters preferred.
• 0-5 years professional experience.
• EIT or FE certification preferred.
• Proficiency in CAD design (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or MicroStation).
• Design capability and/or experience with site development and/or municipal projects preferred.
• Experience with surveying preferred.
• Design capability and/or experience with hydrologic and hydraulic design preferred.
• Technical writing, solid verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to interact effectively with clients, project teams, and colleagues internally.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
