POSITION PURPOSE

The Advanced Aftermarket Engineer role is a subject matter expert on the BAC OEM parts offering & a preferred point of contact within the business both internally and with external customers. The person in this role will contribute to the Aftermarket annual plan through a heavy involvement in business objectives. The Advanced Aftermarket Engineer will collaborate with other functional counterparts in the organization (engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, finance, marketing, quality, & IT), and support the sales network with business growth.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Exhibit BAC Core Values to the fullest (Drive Innovation, Show Courage, Earn Trust, Embrace Responsibility)
  • Deliver solutions for domestic representative technical support, ranging from simple requests with basic components to complex customer needs involving proprietary product categories
  • Drive and accelerate Aftermarket Tools to expand the available self-service selection content for our sales network, allowing for greater speed of information and ease of doing business
  • Support BAC Representatives with training needs, focusing on equipment dynamics, competitive product strategy, and systems knowledge
  • Interpret external feedback to identify customer trends and recommend business adjustments for best possible opportunity capitalization
  • Support product price thresholds by having a strong understanding of target margins as well as experience in analyzing job-specific opportunities to determine optimal price point
  • Research BAC and competitor products in relation to customer aftermarket needs and identify solutions to improve overall quote to order rate
  • Participate on New Product Development and effectively communicate Aftermarket Business needs to maximizes future launch success
  • Participate with engineering platform teams and unit applications on the latest component offerings to identify development needs for best future customer support in the Aftermarket phase of a unit lifecycle
  • Project lead/ key contributor on major process improvement projects currently underway in the Aftermarket and identifying continuous improvement projects for improved service level, quoting quality, and process efficiencies
  • Build on effective relationships with other departments within the value-stream (Marketing, Customer Service, Manufacturing, Engineering, Warranty Services, Sales, Credit) to align for best customer solutions

NATURE AND SCOPE

The Advanced Aftermarket Engineer will report to the Aftermarket Business Manager. As part of the Aftermarket, the person in this role will have daily interaction with domestic and international representatives and OEM accounts as well as all departments within BAC corporate and manufacturing facilities.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Engineering degree, preferably mechanical
  • Bachelor’s degree, technical degree, or equivalent background and experience
  • 3-5 years of directly related experience, technical sales preferred
  • Proficiency in 3D Inventor modeling software/2D AutoCAD (or equivalent)
  • Ability to read technical drawings
  • A clear demonstration of strength in communication, problem solving, and follow-up
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff in a fast-paced, results-driven organization
  • Capacity to assume more significant responsibilities within three years.
  • Involvement on scope creation with new product development
  • Possess an advanced working knowledge of current and obsolete BAC products
  • Able to understand and offer the value of retrofits & upgrade options for BAC products
  • Needs a general knowledge of all North American representative offices
  • Customer service orientation (internal or external customers)
  • Ability to coordinate/negotiate with suppliers on component price and lead time
  • Capable of working effectively on Aftermarket job sites as needed
  • Ability to review costs and recommend market pricing level
