Simulation Center Education Specialist - Austin - RN


Job Summary We are searching for a Simulation Center Education Specialist -- someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will manage interdisciplinary simulation initiatives aimed at improving clinical performance (including physicians and families), organizational learning, patient safety, and quality care outcomes across the hospital system. Responsibilities * Continually identify new and innovative ways to integrate simulation into clinical and organizational learning * Develop and maintain effective policies, procedures, and processes to support efficient/effective operations within the Simulation Center * Coordinate simulation set-up, including need for role play, prop securement, prop arrangement, and other theatrics to effectively simulate the reality of the health care environment * Program scenarios into software * Maintain technical expertise to effectively manage simulation facilities, equipment, and simulators * Ensure all center equipment is maintained in good working order, including facilitation of PMs * Partner with Subject Matter Experts (SME), faculty, and leaders to design, implement, and evaluate of evidenced-based simulation scenarios, curriculums, and projects aimed at addressing targeted clinical and organizational performance gaps * Develop and oversee courses, workshops, and other educationally-focused simulation activities for faculty and SMEs * Collect and analyze data for program and financial evaluation Qualifications * Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees at Texas Children's, unless approved for a medical or religious exemption. * Master's degree in clinical, educational, or simulation field required * RN license from the Texas Board of Nursing or Nursing Licensure Compact required * BLS certification from the American Heart Association required * 3 years' experience as an educator in a department with responsibilities to include clinical skills simulations using low/high fidelity mannequins, and scenario and role play development required Company Profile Texas Children's has been expanding in Austin since March 2018, when we opened Texas Children's Urgent Care West Gate, providing high quality pediatric-focused care after hours and on weekends. There are now more than 10 Texas Children's Pediatric primary care practices in the greater Austin area bringing world-class pediatric services to children and their families. Our Specialty Care Center in Austin includes a multidisciplinary group of pediatric specialists committed to providing comprehensive care across a wide spectrum of services, including allergy and immunology, cardiology, ophthalmology, rheumatology, pulmonology, neurology, and more. Set to open in 2024, the North Austin Campus will be a 52 bed, 365,000 square foot hospital for children and women. The hospital and its 170,000 square foot adjacent outpatient building will be designed, equipped, and staffed exclusively to provide care in more than 25 areas of specialty care for children and women. North Austin facilities include emergency center rooms, outpatient exam rooms, radiology rooms, operating rooms, acute care beds, pediatric, cardiovascular, and neonatal intensive care units, as well as women's services and a fetal center.
