Job Summary

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office is currently seeking qualified applicants for a regular, full time department Buyer position.

Job duties include but are not limited to: acting as primary purchasing liaison for the Sheriff's Office for purchases less than $50,000; obtaining and verifying quotes from vendors; adhering to procurement guidelines; creating purchase orders for Sheriff's Office purchases; buying equipment and supplies for Sheriff's Office with Purchase Cards; work with county and state purchasing contracts; researching vendors for agency purchasing needs; and other duties as assigned.

Must be able to communicate effectively with staff at all levels of the organization and respond to requests in a timely fashion.

Preferred qualities include: proficiency in the use of State and Local purchasing contracts; have a clear understanding of all public procurement rules and regulations; experience with procurement within the Oracle Financial system; knowledge of purchasing in a local government environment; Certification as a Professional Buyer.

Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree, preferably with coursework in procurement, business, accounting, computer science, or related field; one (1) year related work experience in procurement of supplies and services with experience working with automated systems; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Selection process includes review of the Applicant Screening Questionnaire and County employment application, in-person interview(s), and an intensive background investigation to include fingerprinting, criminal background check, credit check, driving record, and polygraph examination.
