Job Summary

Loudoun County is seeking an attorney with experience in labor relations. The attorney will be primarily responsible for assisting in the negotiation and drafting of collective bargaining and other labor relations agreements, as well as providing legal representation to County management in labor-related mediation, arbitration and grievance proceedings. Principle duties include drafting, reviewing and interpreting legal documents, defending or initiating litigation on behalf of the County, conducting legal research and providing legal advice and other legal services to County departments/agencies as required or assigned.

The successful candidate must be able to work independently, prioritize workload, work effectively with staff, and attend night meetings as needed. Excellent written and oral communications skills required. Experience in labor relations is a preferred qualification.

Hiring salary is commensurate with experience.

Minimum Qualifications

Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school (or equivalent as state law provides); at least three (3) years of experience as a licensed practicing attorney, including at least two (2) years of experience in local government or a specific relevant practice area.

Must either be a member in good standing with the Virginia State Bar or eligible for admission within a reasonable time and maintain such good standing throughout employment.
