Job Description:
Role Summary/Purpose:
Responsible for treasury risk management oversight specifically related to market risk, funding and liquidity, counterparty credit and operational risk. The candidate will lead a team to provide independent, objective and timely identification, monitoring and control of these risks. The candidate will work with Treasury to establish monitoring limits and escalation triggers. In addition, will facilitate the oversight of these risks via the Continuous Monitoring, Conformance and Concurrent Reviews working across the Risk oversight function.

Essential Responsibilities:
Drive market risk, liquidity and funding risk, counterparty credit and treasury operational risk oversight in line with industry best practices and regulatory guidance
Responsible for continuous monitoring of treasury risk limits, developing additional metrics as required, commensurate with potential new emerging risks
Develop and enhance independent treasury risk oversight analytics to monitor treasury risks
Provide effective challenge during functional risk assessments to ensure critical thinking in assessing treasury risks and aligning them with broader Enterprise Risk assessments
Execute disciplined Issues Management process by ensuring that treasury risk issues are reported and escalated if necessary, and action plans executed according to Synchrony Financial procedures
Evaluate exception requests around treasury risk limits, policies and guidelines
Coordinate with other cross functional risk teams on development of ongoing monitoring and second line testing plans for treasury
Provide independent assessments via Continuous Monitoring, Concurrent and Conformance Reviews of existing treasury strategies and processes and drive risk identification process
Work on due diligence efforts related to new investment products and treasury processes representing Treasury Risk Oversight in the Treasury Projects Working Group
Represent Treasury Risk Oversight team in the Asset Liability Committee (ALCO), Finance Risk Working Group (FRWG), Retail Deposits Pricing Subcommittee, Enterprise Risk ERA process, Treasury Working Groups that report into ALCO and other applicable governance forums
If required by the SVP Financial Risk, represent Treasury Risk Oversight team in the Risk Committee, Enterprise Risk Committee, Credit Risk Subcommittee, Operational Risk Subcommittee
Work with SVP, Financial Risk to prioritize second line testing agenda for broader Finance Risk Team
Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelors’ degree and at least 7 years’ experience in financial services or related field, in lieu of Bachelors’ degree, 10 years of experience in financial services or related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience working with or managing advanced risk or finance analytics
Minimum of 5 years of experience of Risk Management, Finance or Audit in U.S. Regulated Commercial Banking or Consumer Credit Environment
Desired Characteristics:
Financial services experience in Risk, Treasury or Audit
Previous experience in independent oversight roles such as Risk or Audit
Demonstrated ability to effectively challenge and influence
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently in fast paced environment
Excellent interpersonal skills - ability to foster relationships and build informal networks without compromising independence
Strong leadership skills with proven ability to develop and manage resources, directly and indirectly as well as influence change
Advanced Excel, data analysis skills
Ability to assess operational risks and controls effectiveness
5+ years of experience Treasury or Risk Management Experience in U.S. Regulated Commercial Banking or Consumer Credit Environment
Expertise around market risk, funding and liquidity modeling
Prior experience with treasury management systems/applications
Prior work experience in Finance, Capital Markets or Treasury
Experience/understanding in Operational Risk a plus
Experience in a matrix organization and global environment
Strong process orientation and analytical skills
Grade/Level: 14
The salary range for this position is 150,000.00 - 250,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.
Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.
Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.
Eligibility Requirements:
You must be 18 years or older
You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
