Position Description: Water Manager Job Description
Manage all water systems within the district. You will be the primary source of knowledge of the water systems in your district. Supervise the creation of or maintaining the updates for water system operations plan books.
Assure that each water system has a book containing
Startup procedure
Water system maintenance log
Cross connection plan
Section for copies of all correspondence, surveys, certifications of operators and test results
Map of the system (GPS all tanks, pumps, valves, spigots, and other water equipment)
Close down procedures
Review all Water operating plans and make recommendations for updates.
Collect the books at the end of the year for storage in the corporate office.
Host and facilitate training of district manager and maintenance staff on proper techniques
Water system operations & basic system design
Opening
Monthly testing
CC plans
Site Sampling Plan
Record keeping
Sanitary survey standards
State and county requirements
Closing and winterizing systems
You will be expected to present a half hour class at the at the orientation meeting on water system management.
Some of the topics should include the basics of water system maintenance. Show them how to take water tests, how to attach a screen, and trouble shoot problems.
Monitor state testing schedules for certification and inform Corp staff so you can be licensed.
Opening of water systems
Assure that all systems are opening on scheduled start dates or inform state of delayed openings.
Trouble shoot problems with district manager and maintenance personnel.
Report that system(s) are open and start up letter is sent to state.
Record Keeping
Keep track of water tests results on a spread sheet and report to the home office.
Manage violation notices and responses, fixes, and correction correspondence with home office.
Condition Monitoring
Inspect each system for compliance with best practices and State rules
Approve work order requests through the district manager and repair systems.
Report completed repairs through the district manager.
Monitoring Water Systems
If any bad tests are realized then communicate with the district manager to assure that corrective action is taken to fix the problem.
If level 1 inspection is required lead the district manager and maintenance on the hunt for corrections and see that they are fixed.
If level 2 is required attend the survey with State or others.
Sanitary surveys
Preview facilities that are scheduled for a survey
Create to do list of corrective action required prior to survey.
Attend survey
Create follow up action items for items to fix
Send documentation to state that the item has been fixed
Supervise the closing of water systems
Assure that all systems are closed and winterized properly on scheduled or inform state of delayed closing.
Trouble shoot problems with district manager and maintenance.
Get confirmation that system(s) are closed and all testing that was needed has been completed and a close down, email is sent to state.
Either you will have a company truck or be reimbursed for mileage while traveling on Company business.
