Overall Purpose:

Under semi-direct supervision, installs, alters and maintains every type of subscriber switching equipment and assists in the installation, maintenance, operation, and repair of telecommunication computers, peripheral equipment, telephone switchboards, data systems, carrier systems, multiplex systems, and other equipment assigned to the Technical Services and Operations Unit.

Job Responsibilities:
Installs, alters, maintains, and tests every type of subscriber switching equipment and subscriber cabling and station equipment.


Assists in the installation, testing, repair, maintenance, modification, removal, reinstallation, and adjustment of all microwave, radio, Telecommunication, Beaver Valley Power Station Emergency Warning, supervisory, telemetering, and load control communication systems, and other electronic equipment as assigned.


Assists in the installation, testing, repair, maintenance, modification, removal, installation, and adjustment of all telecommunication computer systems and peripheral equipment as assigned.


Assists in the investigation of reported radio, television, and other electronic interference.

Installs conduits, wiring, and labeling associated with communication and related equipment.


Performs all work in accordance with established safety regulations and practices.


Performs other work related to that described above as required or assigned.


Education / Experience Requirements:Education equivalent to graduation from high school and must possess an Associate Degree in Electronics from an approved Technical School

Must pass the company administered standardized test. (TECH)


Demonstrated knowledge of electronic equipment and the ability to work with simple plans and diagrams.


Must possess an appropriate State driver's license and the required endorsements associated with the job requirements.


Must have the ability to identify, by color code, communication cable pairs and optical fibers.
