Global's Gasoline Distribution and Store Operations (GDSO) business continues to grow organically and by acquisition. We are looking to add a Business Intelligence Strategist to our existing Strategy and Controls Team. The Business Intelligence Strategist will report to the Vice President of Strategy and Controls. You will also work closely with Legal and Operations. The Business Intelligence Strategist is a linchpin within Global Partners, adept at transforming complex data into digestible business insights and visualizations that guide strategic decision making and KPI management. In this critical role, you serve as the subject matter expert for the Strategy and Controls team as it supports its internal teams within the Gasoline Distribution and Store Operations business segment. This involves creating analytics in our BI tools that allow the creation of actionable strategies and overseeing the translation of business needs into analytical work product. As the bridge of understanding, the Business Intelligence Analyst is charged with understanding multiple business lines, interpreting nuanced data sets, communicating the value of analytical findings, and harmonizing the objectives of diverse stakeholders. You will orchestrate the collaborative efforts of cross-functional teams, refine our reporting architectures, build visualizations, and advocate for the intelligent deployment of machine learning models.

Your toolkit should include a solid foundation in analytics, adeptness with Tableau, and familiarity with the contemporary data ecosystem (including tools like dbt, Snowflake, and SQL). A proficient communicator, you can distill complex concepts into clear visual narratives that resonate with both technical and non-technical audiences. "Gauges" of Responsibility

  • Have a deep understanding of how to create visualizations from disparate data sources using the Tableau visualization tool. The data sources you use will be created, delivered, cleaned and provided to you through a modern data stack by the CDAO team.
  • Engage with GDSO leadership to understand their data needs, ensuring the delivery of tailored analytics solutions.
  • Collaboration on setting the strategy for what we measure and how we ensure that those measurements and reporting are accurate.
  • Streamline and automate data delivery through Tableau reporting, develop Tableau dashboards for operational insights, and enable data filtration for relevancy to various teams.
  • Collaborate across the GDSO to identify and translate data analytics into actionable insights, standardize analytical methodologies, and define product requirements with GDSO units.
  • Collaborate on crafting and ensuring the accuracy of measurement processes, creating and presenting key KPIs derived through rigorous business intelligence visualization processes and using core business logic.
  • Identify and solve high-value business questions to unlock significant benefits such as cost savings, customer satisfaction, and resource optimization.
  • Act as a key stakeholder in managing change requests, prioritization, creation of business goals, and communication of milestones for Analytics & Data projects.
  • Serve as the pivotal link between business units and the Central Data & Analytics org, translating complex data insights into actionable business analyses.
  • Identify new sources of data needed for key business problems and their locations, structure, accessibility and readiness for aggregation. Collaborate with CDAO to facilitate their ability to integrate those new sources into the CAO's data stack.
  • Establish visualization quality standards and role-based access, oversee user acceptance testing for team analytical tools, and promote data literacy to nurture a data-driven organizational culture.
  • Partner to create and execute an approach to effectively prioritize projects that provide the most value and are used to align with business goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Finance or Economics is preferred.
  • An analytic mindset that is comfortable searching for answers and opportunities in large quantities of data from multiple sources.
  • Demonstrated expertise in uncovering data insights and providing actionable business recommendations. Should possess the ability to draw meaningful narratives from data and transform them into visually compelling stories.
  • A minimum of three years experience working with Tableau or a leading BI tool.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL with the ability to write complex queries blending data from various sources. Experience with Python or R is a plus.
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in manipulating large data sets with a variety of tools.
  • The role must maintain strict diligence toward accuracy of data and items reported on.
  • A willingness to adopt a continual improvement mindset as visualizations and data integrity go through changes and improvement on a regular cadence.
