Job Description

North Star Academy Nurses promote health and safety in the school environment and provides health services to students, faculty and staff. As the school health services specialist, nurses assist our students and staff in attaining and/or maintaining optimum health, and promoting positive health habits and attitudes

Responsibilities

  • Provide basic healthcare to students in case of injury or acute illness
  • Keep track of students’ vaccination records and follows up with families as needed
  • Update students’ medical history and files accordingly
  • Ensure school environment is safe for children and school staff (e.g. prevention of communicable diseases)
  • Ensure compliance with national and local health laws

Qualifications

  • BSN preferred
  • LPN as long as they are willing to go back to school to get their RN degree to become school certified (Tuition will be reimbursed)

Compensation for this position: The starting compensation for this role based in Newark is between $56,000 to $84,000.  The starting pay will depend on various factors that may include but are not limited to professional experience, education, training, certifications, tenure with Uncommon Schools, and work location.  Because one of the things that we value is staff tenure in a role, we do not currently cap salary ranges.  Please note: ranges may differ for staff who work from a location other than Newark.
