Kluever Law Group, a boutique Chicago law firm is currently seeking an associate with two to five years of creditor’s rights practice in Foreclosure experience to join our team. Familiarity with Cook County and collar county courts is beneficial, and foreclosure and/or bankruptcy experience is considered a plus. The position will be mostly remote, with on-site meetings at our downtown office on a semi-monthly basis. In-person requirements may change as courts return to in-person hearings.

Responsibilities:

· Department Management – Develop and oversee a team of paralegals, including personnel development and workload management.

· System Updates – Working various case files, communication with clients, and processing documents to and from clients, courts, and opposing counsel.

· Document Review – Review and proofread documents to ensure completeness, sufficiency, and accuracy; approve documents submission to the court, opposing counsel or client.

· Court Attendance – Attend court to represent the firm’s clients in a manner befitting the profession (prepared, timely, professional attire, and conduct is appropriate)

· Escalations - Identify and escalate unusual or complex issues to supervising attorneys and clients.

· Internal and External Communication – Providing clear, professional, and relevant communications to clients, vendors, and colleagues via case management systems, phone, and email.

Experience and Skills:

· Must be licensed to practice law in Illinois with no disciplinary history in any jurisdiction.

· Must have superior communication skills with clients and colleagues/staff, including the ability to deescalate and resolve issues as they arise.

· The successful candidate will be responsible for a caseload involving: proactive file and timeline management; daily court appearances; legal research; drafting pleadings/motions/briefs/regular client communications/staff oversight; and identifying and deploying creative "out of the box" resolutions as necessary.

· Must be process-oriented with attention to detail and have a strong work ethic.

· Pluses include an understanding of Illinois Mortgage Foreclosure Law, Bankruptcy Law, the Illinois Code of Civil Procedure, the Supreme Court Rules, and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

· Minimum of 2 years full-time experience as a practicing attorney where you were required to report to a supervisor either at a multi-attorney law firm or government agency required. Less experience may be considered for exceptional candidates.

Expected work hours are Monday-Friday 8:30am-6:00pm, but we are willing to accommodate and provide some flexibility.
