Full Time / FICA Position

Eligible for $1,000 New Hire Bonus

Specific Responsibilities to Include:

  • Daily unloading of materials consisting of a variety of bulk liquid and dry products
  • Ability to understand and follow operating procedures and policies
  • Ability to operate or learn to operate railcar loading systems and equipment
  • Ability to perform work safely and productively
  • Ability and interested in being cross trained on all functions at facility
  • Strong work ethic
  • Keeps work area clean
  • Attention to detail
  • Accurately fill out all necessary paperwork
  • Enforces safety policies and procedures with other employees and visitors
  • Ability to perform general maintenance on equipment
  • Assist with other duties within the facility (general maintenance, landscape upkeep and painting)
  • Interact with customers, railroad crews, other Team Members and visitors
  • Understands customer needs

Requirements of a successful Transload Operator:

  • Read, write, and understand English
  • Basic math skills
  • Computer skills (light data entry)
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Capable to learn how to operate and maintain railcar/trans loading equipment (e.g., Hoses, portable conveyors, transfer pumps, portable stair systems, small to medium sized equipment, etc.)
  • Ability and willingness to travel to other transload terminals to assist when necessary

Here are some of the physical requirements for this role:

  • Physically able to climb up and down railcars/ladders safely
  • Willing to receive general safety training
  • Ability to work outside in ALL weather conditions (snow, rain, sub-freezing temps)
  • Willing to work with liquid hazardous and dry bulk materials
  • Can carry at least fifty (50) pounds
  • In good physical condition (able to walk one (1) to two (2) miles per shift)

Employees in this position may work in cramped, confined, enclosed, or awkward places. Employees will walk long distances over uneven terrain. Heavy work requires occasional lifting, carrying, frequent pushing and pulling of up to or greater than 80 lbs. Outdoor position requiring a tolerance to extreme heat, cold and wet conditions. Employees in this position must be able to work outside in all weather conditions. Perform activities in the proximity of moving equipment. Good auditory and visual acuity/tracking/inspection, accommodation, field of vision and depth perception to successfully perform duties and for general safety. Color vision is necessary for perceiving signals. Employees must wear appropriate personal protective equipment provided by SLGW.
