Job Description
Job Summary: The Personal Trainer Lead assists in coordinating the Living Whole Employee Wellness program, and the supervision of personal trainers. Assists in the coordination of program details including equipment upkeep, trainer evaluations, staff meetings, and staff schedule. Other duties assigned include the fitness assessment and creation of a personal exercise prescription for clients and other LLU entities. Performs other duties as needed.
Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor's Degree in kinesiology, exercise physiology or related fields preferred. Minimum two years of related experience required.
Knowledge and Skills: Familiarity with fitness machines and other equipment. Familiarity with basic principles of cardiovascular training, strength and resistance training, proper stretching and exercise techniques, and appropriate safety guidelines. Ability to work with clients with existing health risks and/or conditions. Knowledge of fitness assessments, performing exercise movements and assessments of injured clients. Able to speak in English with professional quality; Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; collaborate and accept direction. Think critically; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to details; work independently with minimal supervision. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.
Licensures and Certifications: CPR and Basic First Aid certification and one of the following fitness: American Council on Exercise (ACE), American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) certification required within 90 days of hire.
