Job Overview:
  • Enthusiastically represents SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment by displaying a positive attitude, maintaining a high level of energy and commitment to quality throughout all aspects of the job.
  • Supports the Theatrical Maintenance team through assistance on the install, strike, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair lighting, special effects, and rigging for festivals, events, shows, and park needs unassisted.
  • Conducts safety inspections for shows in the park.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist with Install/Strike of lighting elements.
  • Assist with Install/Strike of special effects in the park.
  • Assist with Maintenance of lighting instruments and special effect elements to the component levels.
  • Opening and Closing duties in the park.
  • Completes assigned projects with minimal Supervision.
  • Responds to park trouble calls with minimal assistance.
  • Run temporary power for seasonal events.
  • Program or Design lighting as assigned with minimal supervision.
  • Assist with rigging projects in park.
  • Conducts safety inspections for entertainment elements in the park.
  • Uses acquired knowledge and experience to assist and develop less experienced technicians.
  • Safely operates lasers for shows.
  • Intermediate lighting knowledge including hanging and focusing of lighting instruments and addressing fixtures.
  • Basic knowledge and operational skills of theatrical lighting consoles from ETC, High End, or others.
  • Basic knowledge of the safe assembly of truss structures including freestanding structures and towers on ballasts.
  • Selects gear such as: cables, pulleys and winches according to load, weight and size for various park projects.
  • Ability to install lighting and special effects equipment including power runs, data runs, LED lighting, moving lights, fog machines, bubble machines, and snow machines.
  • Ability to follow direction on the maintenance of lighting and special effects equipment including conventional and LED lighting, moving lights, fog machines, bubble machines, and snow machines.
  • Ability to read theatrical lighting plots and paperwork including channel hookups, instrument schedules, and focus charts.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with Ambassadors, Vendors and our Guests.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Occasionally assist other locations and areas in the park as needed.

Qualifications:
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving guidelines.
  • 5+ years' experience with theatrical lighting and special effects
  • Theatrical Rigging experience (preferred)
  • Advanced lighting knowledge including hanging and focusing of lighting instruments and addressing fixtures.
  • Advanced understanding of signal/data flow for analog and digital controls
  • Advanced knowledge and operational skills of theatrical lighting consoles from ETC, High End, or others
  • Advanced understanding of electricity including load calculations for various electrical services and loads
  • Advanced lighting programming skills on theatrical lighting consoles from ETC or High End preferred OR Lighting Design experience required.
  • Intermediate knowledge of the safe assembly of truss structures including freestanding structures and towers on ballasts
  • Intermediate knowledge of IP and Network based lighting systems preferred OR Rigging experience required.
  • Ability to correctly install wire rope clips according to load, weight, size and manufactures' instructions.
  • Ability in cutting and swaging aircraft cable according to load, weight, size, and manufactures' instructions
  • Experience in inspecting various rigging systems including visible and audible tests.
  • Ability to install, and lead others in the safe installation of lighting and special effects equipment including power runs, data runs, LED lighting, moving lights, fog machines, bubble machines, and snow machines.
  • Ability to repair and trouble shoot lighting and special effects equipment, and lead others in the safe repair to the component level including conventional and LED lighting, moving lights, fog machines, bubble machines, and snow machines.
  • Proficient use of a Voltage Meter
  • Soldering experience required
  • Ability to read theatrical lighting plots and paperwork including channel hookups, instrument schedules, and focus charts.
  • Ability to design lighting for group sales events, festivals, and shows with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to be trained on the safe operation of forklifts, boats, boom lifts and scissor lifts.

Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Preferred - Degree in the Theatrical Arts or applicable industry training.


Competencies:
  • Knowledge of Personal Protective Equipment or PPE (preferred)
  • Effective communication and people skills
  • Basic understanding of signal/data flow for analog and digital controls.


Responsibility for Others:
  • Maintain a safe work environment and adhere to safety requirements.


Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull and/or carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Regular use of hands and fingers; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Position engages in extensive walking and standing throughout entire work shift and climb/ascend heights, if needed.
  • Stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Perform the following physical activities: kneeling, squatting, bend floor-to waist/waist-to-overhead, reach overhead, simple grasp and fine hand manipulation tasks (use of tools/keyboard/writing)
  • Position may be exposed to fumes, dust, odors and cold/heat temperature extremes
  • Perform cleaning duties, including use of cleaning chemicals
  • Must be flexible in work locations as placement will depend on business needs and career development opportunities
  • Must be able to work at heights up to 90 feet.
  • Must be able to climb truss in fall protection equipment.

Availability:
  • Available to work varying shifts or hours based on park hours, i.e. be able to work opening and closing shifts, nights, weekends, and Holidays.


Training:
  • Park wide trainings including Implicit Bias and as needed.


Work Conditions:
  • Work indoors and in outside weather conditions (i.e., direct sunlight, wet and/or humid)
  • Able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to work in an environment with moderate noise levels.
  • Must be able to manage time wisely and set priorities effectively.
  • Able to positively interact with guests and co-workers of all ages, different ethic/cultural backgrounds and/or language, and individuals with special needs.
