Job Title: Food Services Manager--Eastside

Supervision: Food Services Staff

Status: Exempt (Salary), Full-Time

Location: Village

Schedule: Mon-Fri 6:00am-2:30pm

SUMMARY

The Food Services Manager oversees the operation of the kitchen, kitchen staff, cooking, and delivery of meals to other Agency locations where that food is served by Food Services staff. As part of the management team and an exempt employee, the Food Services Manager must be available to work a schedule that includes, but is not necessarily limited to, all three meal services, weekends (including Saturday and Sunday) and holidays as assigned and/or necessary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

General

1. Manage assigned kitchen(s) as well as cook and serve food in those kitchens in compliance with federal, state, and county regulatory requirements for a licensed food service facility.

2. Plan menus and oversee execution, including cooking, of those meals in assigned kitchen(s) as well as delivery of food and meal service at other locations assigned within The People Concern.

3. Exhibit leadership in the assigned kitchen(s) and set an example as part of the Food Services Management Staff in constantly striving to provide a healthier, more diverse, fresher, and higher quality Food Services experience for our member clients.

4. Forecast, plan, and coordinate the purchase of food, supplies, and equipment.

5. Continuously develop and operationally/administratively maintain and expand food supply resources through agencies like, but not limited to, foodbanks, farmers markets, local businesses, and volunteer groups etc. in coordination with The People Concern Development Department

6. Maintain shelf rotation and current inventory of stock items as well as organizing and utilizing regular and unexpected donations to their best purposes.

7. Maintain records related to kitchen services and inspections like, but not limited to, the Health Department, hood cleaning, annul/fire extinguisher service, oven calibration, pest control etc.

8. Participate in hiring, training, leading, scheduling and motivating assigned staff. And when necessary, demonstrate a clear and decisive approach in disciplining assigned staff in compliance with all legal and agency regulations.

9. Manage the maintenance of kitchen equipment and food storage and refrigeration areas.

10. Effectively represent The People Concern Management Team to all other staff of The People Concern in dealing with conflicts related to Food Services through effective use of de-escalation techniques and general respect for all client members.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Minimum of five years full-time experience managing large food operations and actively daily cooking

2. Experience in scheduling and supervising staff

3. Current, valid California Driver's License and acceptable driving record

4. Detail oriented with excellent time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

5. Able to learn quickly and work effectively with a wide range of constituencies and with minimal supervision.

6. Able to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and Internet Explorer to perform essential duties and responsibilities.

7. Managers Level Certificate from ServeSafe or other approved certification agency

8. Undergraduate degree preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

1. Mostly kitchen environment

2. Will necessitate working in busy and loud environments.

3. Will be exposed to elements like cold, heat, dust, noise, and odor.

4. Will need frequently to stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push, and pull items weighing 50 pounds or less.

5. There are three deadlines every single at breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
