SUMMARY

The Fixture/Tooling Design Engineer Intern will be doing job tasks related to Design Engineering, Quality function and/or continuous improvement projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with tool modeling and design of fixturing for the Machine Shop
  • Assist Machine Shop leadership team with problem resolutions on day-to-day activities and issues
  • Support the Machine Shop team in scrap reduction efforts through data collection and use of PDCA
  • Partner with Engineering team to a create plan to control Machine Shop setup and operation documentation
  • Use problem solving approaches and techniques, cause and effects, 5 why's, and other analysis tools
  • Aid in Fixture and tooling design CAD models utilizing Autodesk Inventor
  • Aid in Lean Manufacturing Kaizen events & Continuous Improvement related tasks.

Critical Competencies

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to develop and facilitate presentations that are tailored to the audience
  • Intermediate level proficiency with computers

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree is required, preferably with a concentration in Engineering.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Majority of time is in a general office environment, but frequent time will also be spent in a manufacturing production environment where personal protective safety equipment must be worn, and proper safety precautions must be observed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to work in a typical manufacturing facility and travel domestically to other facilities which could entail walking, climbing and moving around working equipment. Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be required to be worn during shift, when in production and warehouse environment.
