Job title    Maintenance Technician
Reports to    Maintenance Manager

Job Summary
 
Maintenance Technicians are responsible for inspection, preventive maintenance, and emergency repairs for all warehouse equipment. Responsibilities also include facility repairs as needed. This position requires mechanical, electrical and troubleshooting abilities to keep the 280,000 sqft. distribution facility operational.  Strong communication skills are required. 
 
Responsibilities
 
Equipment Maintenance
    · Maintains warehouse sorting and conveyance equipment.
            o Inspect equipment to ensure all systems are operating properly.
            o Perform preventative maintenance as scheduled.
            o Immediate repair of any critical equipment as needed.
             Palletizing equipment, conveyors, electrical, mechanical.
            o Fabrication as needed.
            o Work under stringent demands for time sensitive repairs, planned shutdowns, emergency shutdowns, and fast track project schedules.
            o Possesses the basic mechanical and technical skills to accomplish the required machine maintenance.
    o Performs tasks related to the execution of daily maintenance, preventative maintenance, rebuild projects, breakdown response, performs and supports ongoing operations, modifications to existing processes and equipment, engineering projects for expansion, product quality enhancements, and process improvements, etc. 
    o Contributes to a safe workplace by performing all tasks in accordance with O.S.H.A., E.P.A, F.D.A, lock-out/Tag-out safety rules, codes policies, and regulations, and confined entry policies
    o Works as a self-motivated individual with minimal supervision while functioning as a productive team member
    o Dismantle, inspect, and rebuild mechanical assemblies to insure conformance to specifications or production requirements
    o Performs set-up, adjustment, and timing of mechanical equipment
    o Troubleshoot and problem solve equipment issues
    o Provide support to the Production team
         
Facility Maintenance
    · Performs maintenance inspections and repairs for the distribution facility as needed.
    · Immediate repair of any facility equipment as needed.
    · Proactively provide preventative maintenance of equipment and infrastructure. Assists in planned and unplanned downtime projects, shutdowns, and emergency work. Completes work assignments by actively communicating with the Equipment Specialist Maintenance Lead and all parties involved
    · Maintains, cleans, and organizes tools required for the job.  Helps maintain working inventories and general repair parts and supplies.
    · Provide support to the Equipment Specialist Maintenance Lead in completion of tasks in a timely, efficient, and quality manner.
    · Troubleshoot and repair electrical, controls, and instrumentation issues for utilities systems including ammonia refrigeration compression and distribution, carbon dioxide compression and distribution, air compression and distribution, cooling water supply and distribution, electrical distribution, steam and condensate distribution/return
    · Change to: Troubleshoot and repair electrical, controls, and instrumentation issues for Palletizer, Conveyor and building systems equipment. 
    · Work as a self-motivated technician with minimal supervision, always focusing towards improving equipment reliability through well executed strategy and procedures
    · Collaborate with team leads, planners, and operators to reduce unplanned downtime.
    · Change to: Collaborate with Production Supervisors and Maintenance Manager to utilize planned downtime.
    · Document all work and activates in CMMS.
 
Safety & Compliance
    · Responsible for adhering to and enforcing all safety policies, requirements and regulations.
Other Responsibilities
· Monitor spare parts inventory. 
· Communicate with off shift technicians electronically.
· Log work orders and parts in CMMS program.
· Monitor / escort onsite contractors.  
 
Knowledge and Experience Requirements
 
· Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience maintenance or similar field.
· Mechanical and Electrical experience is ideal. 
· Automation and fabrication skills preferred. 
· Prefer experience with NFPA 70E guidelines, OSHA regulations and International Building Code.
· Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
· Must be self-motivated and able to work alone without direct supervision.
· Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with maintenance team and management.
· Computer skills preferred - MS Office, AutoCAD, and CMMS experience.
    · Must have the necessary experience, aptitude, and education to perform mechanical duties such as set-up, adjustments, troubleshooting, PM activities, overhaul and make equipment improvements when necessary.
    · Must possess basic math skills and verbal and written English language skills, and organizational skills.
    · Must be eager and willing to learn new skills and processes and take direction from other Mechanics. It is desirable that the incumbent be motivated to obtain needed training and certification needed to perform these tasks, such as welding certification and electrical apprenticeship.
    · High School diploma or equivalent, required; associate degree or vocational education preferred.
 
Working conditions
 
· The CDC maintenance team provides 24-hour maintenance coverage and support for sorting and packaging equipment.
Each Technician will be assigned a core shift, AM or PM. 
Flexibility for both start and end time is required for business needs.
· Infrequent weekend work may be assigned as needed for some PM items.
· Position requires physical presence within CDC.
· Other duties, as assigned.
 
Physical requirements
 
· Must be physically capable of performing maintenance repairs.  Including, but not limited to, all mechanical and electrical work.  
· Lift / carry 75lbs if needed.

· None
