Pavement Markings Technician

TRP is seeking a Pavement Markings Technician to become part of our Highway Striping Team, and to share our Core Values of increasing road safety of the traveling public and delivering the highest level of precision and excellence and offering an average weekly pay of $1093 - $1650


Job Responsibilities:

  • Work with highway striping crew to install thermoplastic, waterborne paint and other pavement marking materials, traffic control devices necessary to complete the work.
  • Perform and complete all work in compliance with DOT, quality guidelines and OSHA regulations, while maximizing production in a safe and quality manner.
  • Adhere and ensure to all safety policies and procedures in the Company Injury and Illness Prevention Program and Employee Safety Handbook.
  • Complete any forms or electronic logging requirement, e.g. pre-trip and post-trip inspection forms, and ensure equipment is in working order prior to operating it.
  • Operates, drives and assists in the operation of vehicles, trailers, and equipment, to include backup driving operations.
  • Perform maintenance and repair of equipment.
  • Perform various types of manual labor, including the use of hand tools and operate various equipment; drive utility trucks daily; load and unload equipment, supplies and materials.
  • Maintain and use proper safety equipment, PPE and uniform (if supplied) required for each job and function.

Qualifications:

  • Self-starter with a strong work ethic and the willingness to learn.
  • Previous experience in pavement marking, highway construction, asphalt paving, or a related field, is a plus.
  • Must pass pre-employment background checks for criminal record, driving record, and controlled substance/drug testing.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record, a CDL license is preferred and transportation to and from work.
  • Knowledge of local driving rules and regulations.
  • Carry out simple arithmetic functions.
  • Demonstrate mechanical aptitude and experience working with mechanics.
  • Knowledge and ability to adapt to the latest technology, including smart phones and applications.
  • Ability to adjust to changing work schedule, including travel out of town.
  • Requires the ability to quickly assess and prioritize customer needs.
  • Requires the ability to maintain a high level of professionalism with customers and co-workers in high-stress situations.
  • Requires the ability to respond in a courteous and helpful manner to customers and co-workers who are angry or upset.

Physical and Environmental Conditions and Requirements:

  • Regular job functions include continuous strenuous activities such as repetitive reaching, bending, lifting, twisting, kneeling, squatting and pulling; prolonged periods of standing, sitting and walking; and properly operating motorized equipment and vehicles.
  • Essential job functions require maintaining physical condition necessary for light to heavy lifting and carrying including frequent lifting to 50 lbs and occasional lifting up to 100 lbs as well as performing work activities that require fine manual dexterity or coordination in operating machines and equipment with steering wheels, joysticks, buttons, knobs, handles, toggle and rocker switches.
  • Regular job functions are carried out in difficult and frequently hazardous working environments, to include temperature extremes, extensive direct sunlight, night work and heavy traffic situations.
  • Regular job functions are carried out in an environment with exposure to noise, including those associated with airports, highways, construction sites and construction equipment.
  • Frequent exposure to paint, thermoplastic, paint fumes, thermoplastic fumes, bituminous adhesive, chemicals, chemical fumes and other environmental substances.
  • Maintain throughout the course of employment, the physical condition appropriate to the performance of the assigned duties.

Availability:

  • Monday – Saturday.
  • Must be able to work some nights and weekends, including Sundays.
  • Must be able to work overtime, as necessary.
  • Must be able to travel when necessary for sustained periods.

You will be trained to operate different types of equipment, including: Thermoplastic Truck, Paint Truck, Hand Machines, Hand Grinder, Forklift, 3M Hand-Tape Machine, 3M Adhesive Applicator and Hand Roller Tamper Cart.
TRP Construction Group, LLC will conduct Background Check, Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and Controlled Substance testing prior to hire.
