MANAGER & BARISTA, KIBO CORNER

JOB TITLE: Manager and Barista, Kibo Corner Coffee Shop (part-time)

POSITION SUMMARY: Kibo Corner coffee shop on the RU campus exists to support the work of Kibo Group, an international network of friends with a radical vision: To empower every community in the Busoga region of Uganda to holistically and sustainably transform. All profits from Kibo Corner goes directly to support the work of the Kibo Group. We are looking for a coffee professional to join our team. Experience working in a coffee shop is required, with specialty coffee shop barista experience highly desired. Must be committed to providing an exceptional experience to each of our guests.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• 1 to 3 years of experience working in a coffee shop or related business.
• Experience supervising staff preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Open and close Kibo Corner in the student center at Rochester University. Hours will be Monday-Friday 7-11 a.m. and Thursday evenings from 7-9 p.m.
• Recruit and manage volunteer staff (students and staff) for the coffee shop. Work with the Student Activities Coordinator in the Center for Student Life to staff the coffee shop.
• Operate POS system. Reconcile cash against square reports at least weekly. Run reports for purchases using an RU student ID and request a check from the RU business office for the sales proceeds.
• Manage Kibo inventory and supplies.
• Prepare and serve hot and cold beverages.
• Ensure customer service stations are properly stocked with paper products, cream and sweeteners, and utensils.
• Clean, sanitize, and maintain equipment and service areas.
• Promote an inclusive Rochester through demonstration of our Diversity Statement. Participate in developmental activities to increase understanding and awareness of issues related to diversity, equity and inclusion both individually and as related to my field of work, profession or discipline.

SUPERVISORY DUTIES:

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Barista experience required.
• Demonstrate a commitment to providing quality service to customers.
• Ability to work with a diverse group of volunteers, ensuring a commitment to quality service.
• Ability to manage day to day operations of Kibo Corner, including receipt and processing of all cash, credit, and student ID card purchases.
• Ability to track sales receipts and regular monthly expenses related to Kibo Corner.
