We are currently seeking a Transportation/Distribution Supervisor to manage drivers at our plant in Le Mars, IA.    In this role you will be responsible for creating work schedules to ensure coverage for each route; manage all financial commitments and be an advocate for a safe work environment for all employees.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain focus and respond constructively to daily routing situations. Act decisively at the right time.
  • \n
  • Lead a team of drivers within the market ensuring proper coaching, training, performance management and talent management for direct reports. If a collective bargaining agreement exists, may participate grievances or other contract related activities and discussions.
  • \n
  • Coach and develop each driver by demonstrating skills and route riding on regular basis.
  • \n
  • Train drivers to merchandise products if required.
  • \n
  • Deal effectively with routing and customer situations.
  • \n
  • Utilize data from Samsara and other sources to manage KPI’s.
  • \n
  • Ensure driver safety training is conducted and coach safe driving practices.
  • \n
  • Optimize distribution productivity.
  • \n
  • Ensure compliance with any DOT regulations; keep informed of regulatory and logistical issues.
  • \n
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory (OSHA, DOT, EPA) requirements.
  • \n
  • Sustain a culture that encourages commitment to quality service and high performance.
  • \n
  • Demonstrate a commitment to product quality and contributes to the best management practices in maintaining or reaching quality goals.
  • \n
  • Model, lead, and train staff to ensure continuous improvement in all areas relevant to position.

  • Lead by example the Company's Code of Ethics. This includes following company policies, standards, and specifications.

  • Ensure optimization and care for all distribution and fleet assets ensuring proper maintenance.
  • \n
  • Ensures execution of DFA Dairy Brands standard operating processes.
  • \n

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree preferred in business, supply chain/logistics or related field.
  • \n
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in logistics supervision; experience in DSD (direct store delivery) is strongly preferred.
  • \n
  • Accounting experience that includes research, cost reporting, budgeting, and inventory control preferred
  • \n
  • Computer systems experience in routing software, GPS systems, routing optimization and handheld computers (ASN, SBT, Scanning and other store receiving platforms) preferred.
  • \n
  • Computer proficiency with MS Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • \n
  • Regulatory knowledge in applicable federal, state, and local guidelines (DOT, OSHA, DMV).
  • \n
  • Must be able to pass all pre-employment screens (including drug, criminal, driving record)
  • \n
  • Possess valid CDL license or have ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
