General Job Description: Under general direction, the Payroll Clerk will assist with weekly payroll process for approximately 5000+ employees and related administrative duties.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for setting up New hire information, and EDD Benefit Audits.
  • Assist in maintaining payroll operations according to company policies and procedures.
  • Audit and process Data entry relative to payroll and the input of time sheets.
  • Assist in preparing and distributing pay checks.
  • Maintain employee payroll files including updating and filing documents.
  • Answer employee questions regarding payroll issues.
  • Garnishment processing, mail out orders, request checks from AP
  • Employee Customer service, phone calls, emails
  • Preparation of benefit reports and/or input of benefit deductions.
  • General office duties, i.e. filing, copying, phones.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Position Requirements (Skills, Knowledge, Abilities):

  • 2+ years of previous Payroll experience (experience with Construction Payroll department preferred, but not required)
  • Strong aptitude for learning new systems and programs
  • Excellent communication skills, including good phone etiquette
  • Solid computer skills, including advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word & Excel.
  • 2+ years of Data Entry experience.
  • Advanced MS Excel and proficiency in MS Word
  • Accurate 10-key by touch and demonstrated data-entry accuracy
  • Demonstrated customer service excellence, including professional, courteous phone skills
  • Ability to successfully work on several tasks with similar timeframes and similar deadlines
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong aptitude for learning new systems and programs
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as required by Supervisor or Manager

Hours:

This is a non-exempt position. Workdays are scheduled from Monday through Friday. Working hours to be determined.

Travel:

0 -5% of the time to and from the primary office to regional branch offices.

Competitive Wages:

$22.44 to $26.57 per hour.
