The Senate is seeking an experienced, charismatic, and versatile Assistant General Manager / Food and Beverage Manager who is passionate about live music and creating one-of-a-kind guest experiences to assist in managing our front of house and F&B operations. The ideal person will have meticulous attention to detail, an enthusiastic personality, and the ability and experience to manage a first-class food & beverage program. The Assistant General Manager / Food and Beverage Manager is a full-time salaried position that reports to the General Manager.

WHAT THIS ROLE WILL DO

Assistant General Manager:

  • Responsible for supporting the GM in managing all aspects of facility operations and maintenance, including front of house operations, preventative maintenance, third party contracting, and staffing. Responsible for day-of-show operations, including venue set up, staff and crowd management, solving customer issues, and interfacing with the tour.
  • In conjunction with all management and other personnel, works to provide a safe and enjoyable facility for guests and employees, including all venue training.
  • Ensures optimum operating condition of all venue equipment, such as communication equipment and crowd control devices.
  • Investigate and resolve guest related complaints.
  • Implementation and execution of all venue policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Oversee Bar Manager, while working to optimize product offerings, support creative programing, and maintain expected cost. Works with Bar Manager on staffing expectations, training schedules, cleanliness, necessary disciplinary action, and SOPs.
  • Oversee VIP Manager as it pertains to operations, staffing, clients, night-of-show support, projects, program and professional growth.
  • Oversee Operations Manager with show operations, venue repairs and maintenance, PM contracts, recruiting, budgeting and more.
  • Manage and schedule third-party show-related vendors that include Security, EMS, Police, and Cleaning. Manage and train internal part-time staff departments that include Security, Ushers, VIP team, and Box Office employees.
  • Works and collaborates with GM as it pertains to driving revenue that includes upsells, pricing, pre-parties, food, and more. Assists with budgeting for variable expenses as well as forecasting and balancing future venue endeavors.

Food & Beverage Manager:

  • This role will require office hours and hands on management hours of all events at the venue.
  • Responsible for maintaining and developing the venue F&B beverage program in line with corporate initiatives.
  • Responsible for scheduling and overseeing all F&B operations and vendors for event operations. Must ensure every event is staffed appropriately based on estimated attendance.
  • Hire, train and supervise food and beverage staff
  • Train all new and returning F&B staff on venue processes, policy and POS systems.
  • Responsible for the overall cleanliness and repair & maintenance of the kitchen, bars, equipment, liquor storage areas and F&B Manager’s office.
  • Assist with ensuring product quality, costing and ordering for events and special event orders
  • Work with the management team to reduce food costs, beverage costs, monitor labor usage and increase profit margin
  • Manage ordering, receiving, and inventory of all food and beverage related items
  • Establish and maintain positive client and vendor relationships
  • Provide clear and specific communications to the staff
  • Conduct daily pre-shift in an upbeat and motivational manner
  • Ensure that standards are being met regarding staff, quality of service/food, timeliness of all orders, and guest relations
  • Assist in perceiving and troubleshooting potential problems
  • Assist in scheduling staff, voids/closing comps, liquor pulls, cutting staffing levels, and checking out service staff at the end of each shift
  • Greet all guests promptly and courteously in a professional manner
  • Responsible for bank and adherence to venue cashless procedures
  • Assist other employees and departments as needed
  • Check ticket counts with box office before shift begins and communicate to staff
  • Perform daily liquor pulls for bar staff
  • Log nightly sales and operational issues in show file and online platforms
  • Monitor the labor cost of the shift, paying close attention to overtime
  • Oversee parties/special events in the rooms
  • Accurate accounting close-out of special events
  • Checking accuracy of labor and sales numbers in system at the end of each shift
  • Maintain all local/state/federal safety and sanitation standards
  • Comply with all State and City Licensing Authorities

WHAT THIS PERSON WILL BRING

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • SC Responsible Vendor Certificate/ Responsible Alcohol Awareness Training Certification or Equivalent
  • Flexibility to work late hours, long weekends and holidays
  • (3) years supervisory experience in high volume restaurant/bar/venue environment
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in F&B operations
  • Knowledge of state, federal and local liquor laws, retail operations, and hardware/software computer systems
  • Skilled in leadership, guest relations, decision making and staff schedule maintenance
  • Ability to engage in positive interaction with staff and guests, prioritize, organize, motivate staff, problem solve, delegate, follow-up, communicate, diffuse possibly volatile situations with understanding and non-threatening negotiation at all times.
  • High School diploma
  • 3+ years of team leadership experience
  • Working knowledge of local and regional markets, restaurant and venue operations, and possess computer savvy/software proficiency (MSOffice, spreadsheets, databases, word processing)
  • Skilled in interpersonal communications, organization, financial knowledge, and team building
  • Ability to delegate, follow up, relate to staff, guests and partners in a positive effective manner
  • Tolerance of all cultures, music and art forms
  • COVID-19 vaccination will be required for this position subject to legally valid exemptions.

PREFERRED:

  • Prior experience working in music venues
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Knowledge of music industry preferred

PHYSICAL WORK DEMANDS

  • Ability to work in a very fast paced environment with considerable noise and interruptions. Must be able to change activity frequently.

  • Working environment is fast-paced, loud and stressful
  • Position requires extended periods of prolonged standing and working on your feet
