Description

Washington Trust Bank is on the lookout for a dedicated professional like you to join our team and make a significant impact. We are a busy inhouse print team with a variety of press work. You will be responsible for all phases of offset printing including pre-press, single, multiple, and process color printing, and finish work. Involves scheduling workload and ensuring high quality print shop output; ordering necessary supplies; and billing print projects.

Essential Functions:

  • Operates the offset printing presses to produce high quality documents with minimum waste.
  • Inspects printed jobs for the purpose of completing jobs within requested specifications, quality standards and quantity requirements.
  • Maintains proper ink density and color. Maintains all MICR specifications for magnetic ink printing.
  • Contributes to efficient equipment operation by performing daily routine cleaning and preventative maintenance on presses.
  • Observes all safety procedures and properly use all safety equipment and machine guards.
  • Uses various spreadsheets for variable data printing.
  • Follows instructions and procedures as outlined by the department management.
  • Confers with customers regarding job specifications; advises customer on most cost-effective materials and methods and informs them of progress of job in production; prepares specifications for outsourced jobs.
  • Performs preventive-maintenance, prepares maintenance schedules, and performs routine maintenance on print shop equipment.
  • Determines stock levels of frequently used items and orders necessary supplies for print shop operations.
  • Schedules workload to ensure assignments are performed in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Perform compliance and risk management duties as required or assigned.

Press Operation

  • Sets up and operates press(s) for printing all sizes of paper and types of paper.
  • Monitors print job being printed to ensure consistent color from start to completion of print job.
  • Cleans the press at days end, prepare it for the next days work.
  • Performs regular maintenance on the press(s).

Prepress

  • Operates the computer to plate equipment.
  • Performs regular maintenance of the computer to plate equipment.
  • Works very closely with Marketing to determine the type(s) of files need to make plates for the press.

Bindery

  • Operates all bindery equipment including paper cutter, drill, folder, shrink wrap machine, and pad rack.
  • Contributes to efficient equipment operation by performing daily routine cleaning and preventative maintenance on bindery equipment. Changes cutter blades.

Copiers

  • Operates all copiers, black and white as well as the color copy machines.
  • Calls for maintenance on all copiers when needed.

Related Functions:

  • Produces, assembles and distributes copy jobs as needed.
  • Performs periodic physical inventory of all stock items.
  • Purchasing.

Qualifications:

  • Must have completed an approved offset reprographic printing course or comparable on-the-job training.
  • Proficiency in all phases of pre-press including operation of plate maker, and plating with a minimum of 24 months experience in offset press operation.
  • Strong computer skills in order entry/database management/desktop publishing or related fields.
  • Background in computer graphics is preferred.
  • Artistic and creative.
  • Accurate data entry skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Regular, reliable attendance is required.

Compensation: $20.19 - $28.84 per hour

The compensation range represents the low and high end of the base compensation range for this position located in Spokane, Washington. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance.
