Your Impact
RMI is seeking a Communications and Marketing Lead to assist senior staff in designing and executing communications and marketing strategies to accelerate methane emissions reductions in line with a safer climate future. They will create and make use of diverse digital channels and media to advance RMI's goals by engaging key audiences and stakeholders.
You'll be part of RMI's Influence Team, which makes RMI's research and technical analysis accessible to diverse audiences through multi-media storytelling and marketing campaigns.
Methane has over 80x more climate warming potency than carbon dioxide over a twenty-year period but has been left out of mainstream climate action and regulation conversations until recently.
RMI has prioritized increasing methane emissions visibility through an evolving network of satellites and sophisticated digital tools for both the oil and gas and waste sectors. RMI plays a leading role in transforming methane emissions visibility into strategic interventions that inform government and industry actions to cut methane emissions under their control. As such, this role will frequently work at the intersection of multiple RMI programs, helping to shape deliverables that advance collaborative methane mitigation goals.

This role will report to the Senior Manager of Market Forces Communications.
Major Roles and Responsibilities
Develop marketing campaigns and communications materials from inception to completion, working with editorial, design, earned media, and social media to ensure projects are completed on time and on brand
Execute communications plans and strategies with clear goals, target audiences, and tactics, supporting strategic vision of RMI's methane mitigation experts and communications team.
Craft press releases and pitches for reporters
Draft and review op-eds, articles, statements, social media posts, and other forms of thought leadership content for key program leadership and spokespeople
Draft copy for RMI's website, social media, and email marketing, ensuring consistent messages throughout
Core Skills and Experiences
3 to 5 years of experience in communications, public relations, marketing, or journalism disciplines
Excellent initiative, follow-through, and project management skills
Strong writing, editing, and verbal communications skills, including communicating at different levels of depth (more in-depth for industry audiences; simplified for lay audiences)
A strong team player with excellent interpersonal/collaborative skills with staff and counterparts at all organizational levels and with external partners
Passion for supporting heavy industry decarbonization as well as RMI's mission and theory of change
Location
We are a remote-ready company with team members around the globe. Our beautiful and welcoming offices are available for meetings or focused work, whether you are traveling through or living nearby. Our U.S. offices are in New York City; Washington DC; Oakland, California; Boulder, Colorado, and Basalt, Colorado. This role can be located from anywhere in the continental United States.
We provide you with the essential IT equipment plus a one-time home technology payment and a monthly work from home/commuter allowance to ensure you have a comfortable home office set up and necessary supplies.
We love seeing each other in person! We occasionally gather for shared time together like retreats and learning experiences. Be ready to travel for occasional in-person meetings (and of course, we cover travel costs). Some roles may require more travel, which will be discussed during the hiring process.

Compensation
The salary range for this position is $68,092 - $83,924. This is dependent upon experience that will be discussed and vetted through the interview process.
