The IT Financial Applications Manager is responsible for leadership and management of administrative processes, development activities, enhancement of systems, and the delivery of core financial solutions that support the company's business strategy. Analyze trends in technology, assess the impact of emerging technologies on the business, provide solutions to address technology and business issues, and manage the financial resources of their areas of responsibility. These solutions must be developed efficiently and effectively and be aligned with member and business needs, while establishing relationships with employees and key internal and external stakeholders. Coordinate analysis and planning of new technology projects. Exercises direct supervision over assigned staff.

Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

* Oversee management of core system, including enhancements, upgrades, and daily/month end/year end processing

* Manage the definition, development, testing, and implementation of Core initiatives to support business strategy and requirements

* Assist with the planning, testing, and implementation phases of major core projects

* Develop, test, and implement technologies to improve the performance of multiple business processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness

* Contribute to and influence the development of standards and changes to systems/applications

* Participate with end users and Management in the identification and evaluation of information systems requirements, and oversee development of plans to ensure the completion of these activities

* Provide input and specifications for the acquisition of approved hardware and software including the planning for migration, installation, and training

* Ensure staff has the resources and skills needed to support all work initiatives

* Manage budget processes and conduct fiduciary activities as appropriate to ensure appropriate allocation of funds within assigned area

* Lead group-wide IT strategic and operational planning activities in collaboration with IT Leadership

* Work with business partners to understand business needs

* Provide input to business technology planning within their functional area

* Identify and research alternative technologies, evaluate current staff and technical resources, and identify alternatives for addressing business objectives

* Provide high-quality services to internal customers and members

* Manage vendor relationships to maximize value to the business

* Negotiate simple to moderately complex contracts

* Provide technical and business expertise

* Coordinate analysis and planning of new technology projects

* Manage staff within assigned area, oversee and conduct hiring, training and performance review activities as required

* Define IT work program for the team

* Manage the training and development of IT staff to align with the business needs of the organization

* Identify the roles, skills and knowledge required of IT staff

* Perform related duties and fulfill responsibilities as required


Required Skills

Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements:

* Education and Credentials

o Bachelor's degree with focus on technology, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience

* Experience

o 5+ years of technology experience in a credit union or financial services

o 5+ years of experience with core financial systems preferred

o Experience with Fiserv DNA preferred

o Proven management experience in progressively responsible leadership roles

* Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

o Understanding of core technologies needed at a credit union and how they operate and interact - knowledge of what is needed to serve the membership and how to leverage and deliver the technologies

o Knowledge of current information technology management theories and practices

o Security focus - knowledge of what it takes to protect member data

o Skill in effectively planning, organization and supervising the work of staff

o Effective presentation skills - both verbal and written; ability to take an idea, solution or process and document for executive use

o Ability to clearly communicate goals and priorities of the organization as they relate to technical issues

o Ability to demonstrate a solid understanding of business and technical problem solving skills

o Ability to launch, manage and deliver IT projects on time and within budget

o Ability to lead a cohesive team with multiple objectives and meet deadlines

o Limited travel may be required

o Ability to communicate, verbally and in writing, in a professional manner when dealing with employees, members, vendors and company contacts

o Ability to follow the core values of honesty, integrity, mutual respect, pride and ownership
