Job Description:

• Work includes assignment planning, layout, set up, operating, and making tool adjustments for various types of manuals, numerically controlled and computerized machine shop equipment.
• Will communicate directly with engineers to understand the purpose of a part assembly.
• Provide feedback when necessary and help redline drawings as required to achieve the desired outcome of the project.
• Maintains understanding of and proficiency in MasterCam, SolidWorks or other CAD software.
• Efficient in programming CNC lathes and Mills using MasterCam or basic G code functions
• Recognized as a machining expert and go to person for solving very difficult machining problems.
• Works from blueprints, process sheets and sketches to perform production tasks, which may include the cutting and shaping of metal to precision dimensions.
• Checks and inspects machining operations against specified tolerances.
• Has ability to identify and repair minor machine malfunctions.
• Designs and builds standard tooling.
• Provides guidance and direction to other machinists on the resolution of complex machining problems.
• May give work direction and assist with machine set-up for Machinist levels 1-3 as required.

Minimum Required Skills and Knowledge:

• 4 years of concentrated machinist training.
• Able to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Demonstrated job planning abilities and knowledge of mathematics through trigonometry.
• Understands how to work with a variety of materials.
• Proficient in utilizing business tools such as: E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Experience with HCM (e.g., Workday) or equivalent ERP product and productivity software desired.
• Experience with CNC programming

Typical Education and Experience:

• Associate Degree or equivalent experience. 6 - 8 years of related experience.
