Machinist

Uses established processes to set up, program, and operate various types of industrial grade machines to form, cut, bend, size, and/or machine aerospace quality components from Nickel, Stainless, and Titanium alloys.

Functions and Responsibilities

- Operate CNC and Manual machines with a high degree of efficiency.

- Assign work from blueprints, sketches, and written and verbal instructions.

- Set up and operate multiple machine tools and perform progressive machining operations on work involving very close tolerances or unusual requirements.

- Determine operation sequences.

- Skillfully use all machinists hand tools and measuring instruments.

- Perform advanced programming, layout or setup of machine tools in the course of making components.

- Fit and assembler where needed, with complete understanding of form, fit, and function/

- Complete understanding of company procedures, policies, and guidelines.

- Required to perform shop mathematics associated with layouts and machining.

Skills and Experience

- Read, understand, interpret, and explain manufacturing blueprints, specifications, and sketches. Including, views, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), symbols, and revision control.

- Understand proper setup and use of tooling associated with machines.

- Requires good working knowledge with machine tools, precision instruments, and good manual dexterity.

Working Conditions

* Demonstrate proper and safe operation of equipment, and personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, safety glasses/full face shield, hearing protection, and gloves as required.

Physical Requirements

* The machine operator performs physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and frequent movement of the whole body, such as climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, balancing, and handling of material.
