**CDL DRIVER - CLASS A**

**POSITION SUMMARY**

The primary function of this safety sensitive position is to drive flatbed trucks and curtain-side trailers to efficiently and accurately deliver products to customers. CDL Drivers must exhibit a courteous and professional attitude to our customers at all times.

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**

* Willing and able to work safely at all times

* Must satisfy all DOT requirements

* Perform daily pre and post trip inspections of truck to ensure safety and compliance with regulatory requirements

* Ensure that material loaded for delivery matches shipping documents and that the products are in good condition

* Ability to load and unload materials up to 50 lbs.

* Able to lift up to 50 lbs.

* Ensure proper weight distribution of materials for DOT compliance

* Properly and safely secure material in the truck to ensure no damage in transit

* Maintain and update electronic logbook, trip reports, and on-board computer as required to ensure they are up to date at all times

* Manage proof of delivery paperwork from customers

* Communicate any problems upon delivery to the branch immediately

* Communicate and interact with customers in a courteous and professional manner

* Develop and maintain a working knowledge of products and inventory

* Understand and observe all safety procedures and practices in order to prevent injury to self or co-workers

* Attend periodic safety meetings as required

* CDL Drivers may also work in the warehouse as needed

* Safe and timely loading and unloading of trucks for delivery

* Maintain warehouse in a clean, orderly and safe manner

**QUALIFICATIONS**

* Forklift experience and certification

* Knowledge of safety procedures while performing driving and materials handling tasks

* Ability to read and understand maps, routes, road signs

* Excellent customer service skills

* Good verbal communication skills

* Warehouse experience, preferably in the building materials industry or in a distribution environment

**REQUIREMENTS**

* Ability to pass drug test, background verifications, and a DOT medical examination

* **Must have a valid Class A CDL Drivers License and an acceptable driving record**

* **Must be at least 21 years of age**

* Must have at least 1 year of verifiable driving experience within the last 3 years
