JOB SUMMARY
Perform corrective, emergency, and preventative mechanical maintenance throughout the plant in order to ensure safe and efficient working environments.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

Principal Activities and Responsibilities:

  • Perform all phases of mechanical maintenance in a safe and effective manner to meet organizational requirements as directed by the Lead Mechanic and/or Site Manager.
  • Perform mechanical maintenance, including but not limited to preventive, corrective, emergency, contracted, warranty, etc. on all equipment throughout the Composting Facility under the direction of the Lead Mechanic and/or Site Manager.
  • Responsible for having a firm knowledge of plant layout, system and equipment.
  • Must be able to locate, troubleshoot and repair mechanical malfunctions, document problems and results, and report same to management.
  • Must be able to weld, fit pipe, rebuild equipment, set and align conveyors, couplings and motors.
  • Must coordinate maintenance efforts, requisitions, material control, and safety with Lead Mechanic and/or Site Manager.
  • Ensure completion of work orders safely and effectively based on priority and schedules, while meeting organizational requirements and in support of all company and corporate policies and procedures.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Studies/training in engineering or related fields a plus
  • Minimum of three years experience as an industrial mechanic with experience in both mechanical and electrical (High Voltage AC/DC) process related equipment, including hydraulics.
  • Must be able to work in a semi-odorous environment.
  • Experience with heavy equipment maintenance/operation preferred.
  • Knowledge of standard safety procedures (LO-BO-TO, Confined Space Entry etc...)

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES
1. Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
2. Mechanical experience with heavy trucks, trailers, equipment, pipe fitting and rebuilding equipment
3. Experience with computerized maintenance programs (MP2) or similar PM system preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Talking, Hearing, Seeing, Sitting, Standing, Walking, Fingering, Feeling, Grasping, Climbing, and Lifting up to 100lbs
2. The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions: Protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
3. The worker is subject to noise: There is sufficient noise to cause worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.
4. The worker is subject to hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to bio-solids.
5. The worker is subject to vibration: Exposure to oscillating movements of extremities or whole body.
6. The workers frequently is in close quarters, crawl space, shafts, manholes, small, enclosed rooms, small sewage and water line pipes, and other areas which could cause claustrophobia.

Salary Range: $25-$30 an hour
