Avera St. Luke’s Hospital is looking for a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to join our Team!

 

** This position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus up to $10,000 with a 2-year commitment. 

** This position is eligible for Avera's student loan repayment program which helps you pay off your loans faster and save money.  Each month an extra payment of $167 (up to $10,000) from Avera will help pay down your principal balance faster.

** This position may be eligible for a $2,500 relocation bonus. 

 

Position Highlights:

  • Perform a broad range of laboratory testing in a hospital setting.
  • Fully automated, CAP-accredited laboratory.
  • Every third weekend and holiday rotation.
  • No call involved.

Job Summary

  • Staff will be expected to work in the Core Laboratory including the hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, blood bank and microbiology set up.  
  • Responsible for assisting with collection of samples from patients.  
  • Responsible for supplying inventory, quality control, reagent preparation, etc. 
  • Communicate laboratory data and pertinent technical information to appropriate departments, healthcare providers and individuals in both verbal and electronic means.

Education and/or Experience

  • Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited two year-college program or technical school.
  • Six months to one year of related experience or training preferred.

Licensure/Certification/Registration

  • Certification as Medical Laboratory Technician from the ASCP, AMT, or equivalent required within 12 months of hire.

Work Schedule

  • Varied Shifts; 72 hours every 2 weeks
    • 8-10 hour shifts; mostly afternoons and evenings 
    • Every 3rd weekend & holiday 

Pay

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

  • $22.00 - $31.75 per hour
