Summary:

This position must have basic knowledge of family medicine and able to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for patients. This position is responsible for the coordination of the MyMichigan Medical Group (MMG) and the Physician Enterprise the family practice staff to assure high quality, compassionate patient care. They will maintain and oversee employees and patients at the office location and will act as the liaison with other subsidiary and organization’s personnel. This position orders all medical and office supplies to manage patient care. The Supervisor Registered Nurse (RN) will assure compliance with the policies/procedures of MyMichigan Medical Group, the Physician Enterprise and the Health Care System by maintaining Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines, Clinical laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA ) regulations, and corporate compliance. The Supervisor RN will coordinate and train of any new employees, including float staff. The position will provide teaching to patients and their family members. Manages the patient with pain management and symptom management, and will be available for office emergencies. Calls in prescriptions and teaches the patient and family the reasons for the medication and side effects. Coordinates and ensures continuity of care with other providers. This position provides daily direction and problem solving to clinical and administrative staff and assists the practice manager in short-range planning.

Responsibilities:
(25%)* The Supervisor RN coordinates and trains new employees, and float staff and conducts coaching and disciplinary conversations, along with assisting with job performance reviews for all staff. Processes time keeping in the Kronos system for bi-weekly payroll. Facilitate the hiring process and selection of new employees. Establishes work schedule for clinic staff.
(25%)* Performs clinical duties as needed including triaging patient calls and reporting test results to patients. Assess patients as appropriate and serve as a liaison between the provider and patient.
(25%)* Handles day-to-day clinical operations in the practice and utilize critical thinking skills to resolve issues.
(25%)* Interacts positively with patients and families in an ongoing way. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from MPG services and the services of MyMichigan Health.
Certifications and Licensures:
BLS - Basic Life Support Required Equivalent Experience - Within 1 month of hire or transfer
RN - Registered Nurse Required
Required Education:

Associates Degree - within 1 month of hire or transfer

Demonstrates critical thinking and integration of theory to practice for patients in the clinic.
Provides for the age specific needs of the population served according to department standards and policies/procedures as evidenced by observation, documentation and peer feedback.
Understands necessary Epic computer functions in the office setting, as well as Dictation systems, and any other necessary programs to assist providers and staff.
Room patients during office visits and perform and record all vital signs on patient.
Assesses physical as well as social needs of the patient.
Verify patient demographic information and maintain clinical documentation as outlines in MMG policies and procedures.
Provides teaching to patients and staff on subjects related to family medicine.
Provides coverage for the practice manager.
Management of the patient with symptoms management and will be available for care emergencies.
Calls in prescriptions and teach the patient and family the reasons for the medications and side effects.
Coordinates and ensure continuity of care with other providers including patient admits and transfers to the medical center.
Serves as a resource to technical, clerical and medical staff. Identifies preventative maintenance needs for any office equipment.
Assists in performance reviews of clinical staff and conducts follow-up as appropriate.
Coordinates and ensures continuity of care with other providers.

Equivalent Experience and Other Comments (Education):

Previous management experience including coaching, leading and mentoring employees.

Leadership skills needed to effectively direct a group. Interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and groups and interact with people at all levels to communicate ideas and concepts in a clear and understandable manner.

PC software knowledge must include: Excel and Word.

Knowledge of medical office policies, practices and procedures as normally acquired through three to five years working in the healthcare system or similar setting.

Excellent interpersonal skills needed to communicate successfully with individuals and interact with people at all levels to communicate concepts in a clear and understandable manner.

Prefer 1 year of supervisory experience.

Other Comments:

Exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, as well as, trauma, grief and death. Able to wear personal protective equipment that includes latex materials or appropriate substitute if required for your position. Is able to move freely about facility with or without an assisted device and must be able to perform the functions of the job as outlined in the job description. Overall vision and hearing is necessary with or without assisted device(s). Frequently required to sit/stand/walk for long periods of time. May require frequent postural changes such as stooping, kneeling or crouching. Some exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Must follow MyMichigan Health bloodborne pathogen and TB testing as required. Ability to handle multiple tasks, get along with others, work independently, regular and predictable attendance and ability to stay awake. Overall dexterity is required including handling, reaching, grasping, fingering and feeling. May require repetition of these movements on a regular to frequent basis.
