How You'll Contribute to the Team

To assist with the execution of the Construction accounting activities. The primary function of this position is the technical construction accounting for assigned installations within the portfolio. The technical construction accounting responsibilities include preparation of the monthly construction draw as well as coordination and execution of the construction accounts payable, draw receivables, account reconciliation, compliance and all associated reporting. The staff accountant needs to ensure accurate, timely and efficient financial reporting for the assigned installations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support internal & external users of construction accounting data by providing timely and accurate information and reports.
  • Assist corporate and installation teams with financial information as appropriate for decision making.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with the Installation Construction and Installation Directors, Managers, Operations Accounting staff and Corporate Accounting and develop two-way communication and the transfer of required information.
  • Actively foster and maintain communication between accounting and construction operations to achieve the desired result for the construction accounting function.
  • Ensure full comprehension of the accounting software packages to ensure that the company is operating as efficiently as possible.
  • Utilize accounting software packages and spreadsheets in the development and maintenance of various complex financial reports including the Monthly Construction Draw Report, Monthly and Quarterly Internal and External Financial reports as well as, Audit Work papers and various other 3rd party reporting (PAM/PEP/AF etc).
  • Participate and contribute to installation operations by working with the Program Leads and Construction Management as required.
  • Work with the Operations Accounting and Corporate Accounting teams to achieve all departmental objectives including the development and maintenance of departmental standard operating procedures and training documentation.
  • Foster a positive team environment with the Operations Accounting Staff to meet all department accounting goals.
  • Apply and utilize sound analytical skills to review and evaluate construction financial documentation such as loan draws, Timberline reporting, Internal Reporting and Financial Statements.
  • Execute construction draw process including lender relationship for draw accuracy and timeliness.
  • Execute construction related accounting transactions for the assigned installations.
  • Prepare assigned account reconciliations for construction related accounts.
  • Assist with the timely calculation and funding of construction and development fees for Corvias.
  • Assist with execution of related cash flow and corporate billing /reimbursement activities.
  • Ensure that all installation financial controls and procedures are being followed in accordance with company policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred or equivalent work experience.

  • 1+ years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in Construction.
  • Timberline accounting software experience preferred.
  • Advanced spreadsheet and computer skills required in Excel and related programs.
  • Ability to multi-task and succeed in a fast-paced environment.
  • A professional and positive attitude required.
  • Ability to resolve problems through research and application of best practices.
