The Terrace Restaurant is based at the four star Montagu Arms Hotel, located in the beautiful village of Beaulieu, New Forest. Head Chef Matthew Whitfield joined the Terrace in January 2019 fresh from the three-Michelin-Star Eleven Madison Park in New, and has developed an exciting, innovative menu showcasing the best local and seasonal produce. We now require a passionate Assistant Restaurant Manager to join this ambitious and progressive team.

We are seeking a forward-thinking Assistant Restaurant Manager to help us deliver exceptional customer service for our guests. This role offers the variety of working in the 3AA Rosette fine dining of the Terrace Restaurant alongside private functions and weddings, afternoon tea and events such as our Jazz Lunch.

**Main Responsibilities:**

* Assist the Restaurant Manager in the day to day running of the department and effectively managing, training and developing the team, always maintaining four star standards

* Contribute to the ongoing review and improvement of service, standards and procedures, always looking at new ways of delivering exceptional customer service at all times

* Liaison with Head Chef/Restaurant Manager and other departments to ensure customer experience is seamless

* Help to ensure that appropriate standards are consistently maintained, through training, monitoring and development, and updating operating procedures as required

* Support and drive team objectives, briefing and focusing staff on shared goals, upselling opportunities and maintaining up to date knowledge

* Handle customer complaints effectively and act upon any feedback

* Be visible at all times during service

* Follow/create cleaning schedules for restaurant, service areas and public areas linked to restaurant, ensuring all areas are serviced, clean and tidy

* Help to ensure the payroll is in accordance with budget

* Have good product knowledge of menus/wine lists and company products

* Be a passionate individual with excellent spoken English, leadership skills and wine knowledge

* Have relevant hotel or fine dining experience

* Possess excellent communication skills

* Be a good team motivator, able to inspire others to raise the bar, and have a flexible and enthusiastic attitude to work

The role is full time, with a rota operating on 5 out of 7 days per week. Transport is an advantage to reach the picturesque village of Beaulieu and it is a good base to explore the South Coast. The hotel is situated 6 miles from Brockenhurst Village and train station with excellent rail links to Bournemouth, Southampton and London. The New Forest is a lovely setting with ponies, deer and other animals roaming throughout the Forest and its villages.
