SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for instructing program students for the Permian Basin’s HVAC training program. This program is designed to provide basic, entry-level skills to equip students to enter the HVAC industry using the provided curriculum. Program instruction is provided in person in Midland, Odessa, and regionally throughout the Permian Basin (as determined by the program calendar). This position will provide instruction for a 4 week period M-F 8-3. Classes are scheduled approximately every 2 weeks with prep time provided as needed. Classes are held at Midland and Odessa Colleges.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

● Teaching course according to curriculum and expectations.

● Supervising and monitoring students’ use of tools and equipment

● Ensuring that each trainee accomplishes and comprehends the necessary information to be employable upon graduation

● Continuously improving curriculum delivery

● Organizing, setting up and maintaining equipment and/or supplies during class

 

 

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATION:

Qualified applicants will possess:

● Valid driver license

● License issued by Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) (Class A preferred)

● EPA 608 Universal license

● OSHA-10 Preferred. (we will provide the training if necessary)

● Minimum of three years of experience in the HVAC/construction industry

● Experienced in training, teaching, onboarding, or supervising new employees (formally or informally)

● Highly self-motivated requiring minimal supervision

● Ability to be flexible, persistent, and confident

● Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills

● General working knowledge of internet-based software, including word processing software (Microsoft Word or Google Docs, virtual meeting software (Zoom), and e-mail software (Gmail)

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATION:

● Experience teaching a vocational training program or experience teaching team members

● Experience working with underserved populations, e.g., individuals experiencing homelessness, at-risk youth, justice-involved individuals, or other underserved groups

COMPENSATION:

● Hiring range is $35 per hour based on experience.
