Job Title: IT Change Management Specialist

(This position is Hybrid working 2 days a week in the Denton Texas Support Center)

Essential Function

The IT Change Management Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth and controlled execution of changes within the IT environment. This position is responsible for overseeing the entire change management process, from initiation to implementation, to minimize disruptions, reduce risks, and optimize IT service delivery. The IT Change Manager collaborates with various teams to assess the impact of proposed changes, facilitate communication, and ensure that changes align with business objectives.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Certification in Change Management (e.g., ITIL Change Management Practitioner) is highly desirable.
  • 5-10 years of experience in IT change management or a related field
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and implementing changes in complex IT environments
  • Proficiency in ITIL practices and methodologies
  • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, systems, and applications
  • Knowledge of many, if not most, aspects of an enterprise technology architecture
  • Knowledge of information principles and processes
  • Understanding of network and security architecture
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies

Primary Duties

20% Change Management Process: Develop, implement, and maintain the organization's change management process. Evaluate change requests for completeness and accuracy. Conduct impact assessments to understand the potential effects of changes on systems, applications, and infrastructure.

20% Communication and Stakeholder Management: Facilitate communication between different teams, ensuring clear and effective information flow. Engage with stakeholders to gather requirements, provide updates, and address concerns. Act as a liaison between business units and IT teams to promote understanding and collaboration

20% Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Identify and assess potential risks associated with proposed changes. Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies. Work closely with the risk management team to ensure changes align with compliance standards and regulatory requirements.

20% Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation of change requests, approvals, and implementation details. Generate regular reports on change management metrics, highlighting successes and areas for improvement. Ensure compliance with documentation standards and best practices.

20% Collaboration with IT Teams: Coordinate with various IT teams, including development, operations, and support, to ensure a seamless integration of changes. Foster a culture of collaboration and cooperation among different IT functions.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, retail stores, and residences or commercial vehicles, e.g., use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations and traffic signals, etc. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, books, small parts; using a keyboard, driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
