Summary:
Per Se Group has an immediate need for an experienced Operations Technician for an opportunity in California working at a 200-megawatt natural gas electric peaking generating station. This facility plays a crucial role in supporting local renewable wind and solar power sources.
Responsibilities
- Perform Control Room Operator position duties, responding to abnormal and emergency conditions in the most effective manner while complying with safety and environmental requirements.
- Continuously monitor system and component conditions, evaluating performance to determine plant and equipment functionality.
- Maintain all plant equipment to meet plant dispatch requirements.
- Report any upset conditions or anomalies in plant status to the Operations and/or Maintenance Supervisor.
- Assist in conducting acceptance and performance tests on existing or new plant equipment.
- Undertake basic maintenance duties including predictive and preventative maintenance, replacement of basic parts (filters, gaskets, etc.), valve maintenance, light electrical and/or controls work, etc.
- Assist with major maintenance on plant equipment conducted by external contractors.
- Participate in physical inventories and maintain assigned working locations in an organized manner.
Preferred Skills and Expertise
- High school graduate or equivalent, along with trade school, related military service training programs, or technical training school programs.
- Strong mechanical ability and familiarity with power and precision tools.
- Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions related to power plant equipment.
- Possession of a valid driver's license
